Hi, Im new to this forum but not new to living with a companion with Insuficiency. After 14 years of controlling the disease Marco has passed from other causes. We have been controlling his condition wiht Almazyme from Germany (where he was diagnosed and treated for most of his puppy life). Our vet there has continued to support us and ship us the meds all these years. Just before Marco passed we ordered 10, 500g cans and have 7 left. If anyone uses it or would like to try using it, contact me. This isnt a sales pitch and Im not trying to advocate for anything, This med worked well for Marco over his entire life when other meds didnt and I cant see 7 cans of it going to waste. Let me know.

Hi Bob and welcome, I am sorry to hear Marco has passed away. I have just recently lost my Bonnie at only 2 years of age, so It is heartening for others to hear Marco lived for 14 years with EPI.
I am sure if any uses Almazyme they will contact you, thank you for your kind offer. Please feel free to share your experiences with dealing with EPI, everyone's input is invaluable..As we all we know, what works for one dog doesn't work for another, so the more experiences the better. Look forward to hearing from you again.

I'm sorry to hear about Marco's passing. Fourteen years is a good life, but you know, no matter how long we have these sweet critterkids with us, it's never long enough. I know that you gave Marco a wonderful life, and the love you shared will always be with you.
Where are you? It might help for someone to know that. I'm sure that someone will contact you soon. Please feel free to share stories and pictures of Marco. We all love critterkids here.

Im in the Panhandle of FL, Fort Walton Beach. The statement about what works for one and doesnt for another couldnt be farther from the truth. Most of the American mainstream treatments caused secondary effects with Marco and we had to use way more, thus driving up the expense. It's extremely hard to deal with an EPI dog if you cant get them regulated. Its even harder for some if they cant afford the treatments. Marco actually maintained a healthy weight of about 90 pounds. Occasionally he would get bouts where he'd get a bacteriological overgrowth that would send him into diarhea city. Normally, we'd get him a shot to control the bacteria and then overdose him on the Almazyme. He'd regulate back in about a week. We've seen horror stories of folks who cant ever get their dogs regulated and they suffer through months of the sysmptoms and weight loss. When Marcos disease first presented he went form 100 lbs to 85 in a little over a week and none of the vets could tell us what was wrong. We finally found a vet who sent the bloodwork off to university of Texas and they were able to tell us what it was. Marco weighed about 70 pounds when he started the meds. Being military we left for germany within a week and the results were sent to us. However the German Vet knew exactly what was wrong and what to do about it. The europeans seem to be a little more advanced than us in vet meds. Not 100% sure how to post a pic.../

Hi Bob and I just wanted to say welcome, although I'm sorry you lost Marco....He lived a great long life...Follow Frank's directions...We'd love to see photos of him!:)
Many of us here are fortunate enough to use generic enzymes, or we'd be eating cheap dog food in order to keep our faithful friends alive with good food and proper meds!:D I agree, many vets here in the states don't know much, but you'll find there are many willing to learn and of course, some who are not. As are many folks in life... I just wanted to say welcome!

Ordering the Almazyme from Germany was the only way I was able to do it. 500g ordered with shipping was still cheaper than 100g of generic here in the States.

It would appear that to load images you need to have a third party photo host. I stuck a pic of him in my profile. Seemed the only way to actaully load an image vs link to one.

Most of us are using photobucket.com, because it's easy to use and it's "free." I love your picture of him in your profile but I'd sure love to see more pictures...he's a beautiful boy from what I can tell.

Bob:
Could you please do me a favor and list the breakdown of the enzymes? From what I've been able to find out so far, they are meat based but not porcine glands? Am I right in that the enzymes have grains, fruits, and oils? In the search that Diane did, it said that it's high in amylase, protease and lipase but didn't say exactly how much of each. Actually it sounds almost as if it's a combination enzyme/vitamin product.
Thank you... | |

It is a combo, it has vitamin B12, folic acid, niacin and lecithin. vitamins generally low in EPI dogs. Enzyme wise it contains lipase, amylase, protease, bromelain, papain, trypsin and chymotrypsin. The sources of those or the processes by which theyre obtained are not expounded on in the literature with the med.

Hi Bob, I looked Almazyme ® H 500g up on the internet (definitely a German product...everything i found was in German....so I
did a translate). Very interesting..and it certainly is specified for EPI. I would like to read and learn more about this.:) and if it could be available for purchase outside of Germany. Your offer is very generous.... I hope someone takes you up on it... since maybe someone else with EPI difficulty may find success with this product like you did with Marcos.

Once stable, was able to reduce enzymes to only 1/2 tsp of Enzymes with each meal, but after almost 4 years of stabilization... had to increase the amount of enzymes to 3/4 teaspoon with each meal. Feed various grain-free kibble+real meat, 6x pancreatin enzymes from EnzymeDiane. I give 1 tsp of coconut oil one day and 1 tsp salmon oil next day, and also give canned sardines packed without salt or canned herring for extra omega oils.
