Today a check from Kita's Fund was sent off to Dr. Leigh Anne Clark at Clemson University for EPI Research in Memory of CC, Renee's beloved special boxer girl.  Kita's Fund consists of selling little bags of candy for .50.  When $100.00 has been collected,  this money is now donated to a cause picked by the owner of an EPI dog who has lost its battle with this disease.  In this case - Renee and her girl CC.  The monies are earmarked to be used for NON German Shepherd Dogs.  This money is then used to for blood collection of non gsd dogs to help in the research.  Currently Dr. Clark is processing the SNP arrays.  This is a from a correspondence I recently had with Dr. Clark:

"I have samples from 4 other breeds and 2 mixed breeds that I am going to include in the upcoming SNP array analysis. The other breeds will hopefully help us to narrow down any regions indicated from the GSD data."  The SNP array analysis she is referring to is the one being done now.

Thank you Jan for sharing this with us... and as always, for your continued dedication to raising money for EPI Research.

I still often think of Kita ,remembering stories of her, and seeing the many pictures of her i collected over time for the EPI calendars ..... and CC. too... another beautiful soul (I remember her best in her purple boa feather scarf !) that  left us all too soon............

Olesia, owned by Izzy-45lb SWD, Diagnosed at 1.5 years old - TLI results 1.3, Stable almost 7 yrs! Once stable, was able to reduce enzymes to only 1/2 tsp of Enzymes with each meal, but after almost 4 years of stabilization... had to increase the amount of enzymes to 3/4 teaspoon with each meal. Feed various grain-free kibble+real meat, 6x pancreatin enzymes from EnzymeDiane. I give 1 tsp of coconut oil one day and 1 tsp salmon oil next day, and also give canned sardines packed without salt or canned herring for extra omega oils.

Jan, that is such a great idea, letting them choose.  And thank you for your continued support of EPI research.  I know you thought about stopping it, so glad you didn't.   I think of both Kita and CC as well as you and Renee alot.  Thanks again.

Jan, that is wonderful!  (and overwhelming) I'm sure CC is just smiling so big! (with her underbite!) If the love, kindness and dedication that these groups have could cure these Epi dogs, there wouldn't be a sick pup out there.

You were with me and CC through all of this, and words can't express how much I appreciate you. I'm am so proud to know everyone here. And so grateful!

Thank you Jan.

Renee
