Second try at posting this, for some reason it didn't work.

Anyway, didn't see this posted and thought I'd share. Seems that Proctor & Gamble (makers of a bunch of stuff from Bounty and Dawn, but specifically Iams and Eukenuba) are set to purchase Natura Pet Products and their full compliment of dog foods (Innova, EVO, California Natural, etc.)

A few months ago, I'd posted about the change in the EVO formula and dogs possibly being sick from it, and then promptly forgot to ever reply again. But while at first I didn't see any issue, I have noticed some inconsistent issues with relapsing that I can't explain any other way. I don't know if this change is related to the sale, but I will say that P&G's reputation is not so great when it comes to their dog foods (many recalls) and animal cruelty (testing products on animals). In my opinion they ruined the Iams and Eukenuba formulas when they bought them years back. (Not that Iams was ever the most awesome food out there, but it was not half as bad as both of those brands have become since.)

It took me awhile to find a food that Yara did well on with her EPI and that I felt was a good, wholesome food. Feeding raw, which she was puppy raised on, would have been ideal but difficult given her working life as a guide dog and all the travel I do. I'm not even sure if there is a comparable lowfat dry food to EVO out there right now. But I'll definitely be looking for a new food, I can't imagine good things will happen from this sale.

Very sad. Very sad indeed.

Olesia, owned by Izzy-45lb SWD, Diagnosed at 1.5 years old - TLI results 1.3, Stable almost 7 yrs! Once stable, was able to reduce enzymes to only 1/2 tsp of Enzymes with each meal, but after almost 4 years of stabilization... had to increase the amount of enzymes to 3/4 teaspoon with each meal. Feed various grain-free kibble+real meat, 6x pancreatin enzymes from EnzymeDiane. I give 1 tsp of coconut oil one day and 1 tsp salmon oil next day, and also give canned sardines packed without salt or canned herring for extra omega oils.

Yeah, I'm definitely concerned. I can't imagine that this sale will lead to good things.

I'll be switching Yara over to Nature's Variety starting this week, I think, which should be loads of not fun. I hate switching foods.

I saw this the other day as well.  I'm so glad I had switched Meega over to Orijen to have something that her and Benji could both eat.  I'm so sad to see this happening to Natura though as I was hoping to go back to Evo once Benji hit a yr.

well, we like the eagle pack and they come up on everyones lists of ethical dog food companies so hopefully they'll never sell out to anyone.

Hi all,

This is one reason why I try to tell people, once your fur baby is stable, try other kibble.  Do a SLOW transition, 3-7 days for each 1/4 cup change.  A full transition should take you about a month.  This is more than enough time to watch for backsliding and going back to the stable kibble.  You should try for 2 or more backups.  The big companies want to eat all the little companies so they don't have competition.

Hi,

Regarding Eagle Pack - it was bought out by the same company that bought Wellness/Old Mother Hubbard.  When they messed with the Wellness formulas many people stopped buying.  I think (hope) they have learned their lesson.

HI Craig,

I'm not sure if Eaglepack over in the UK is owned by a different company, but over here in the US, it was recently bought out by Wellpet (used to be Wellness/Old Mother Hubbard) and because of that is why I left Eaglepack...Don't get me wrong, it's not that Wellness was a bad food, but their customer service leaves somthing to be desired...I had my IBD Corgi on their Wellness Simple Solutions, venison and rice.  Apparently, they lost their NZ venison supplier and never said a word, but no one could get it...Now when you have a sick dog that is surviving and thriving on this food, yod'd think they care, but they do not. I drove hundreds and hundreds of miles trying to obtain this food!  I had sent off dozens and dozens of emails asking if they were going to discontinue it (keep in mind they never admitted to loosing their supplier - it was spread by word of mouth) and they never answered one.  I also called them several dozen times and was promised by the recording that if I left a message and phone number, they'd return my call, but they never did...I did manage to switch him to another venison based food, but when were they planning on letting the public know they were going to discontinue it??? Anyway, when I heard they bought Eaglepack, I decided right then and there it was time to switch food...Thankfully, it went effortlessly and for the first time ever, I have all three dogs on the same food and it's GREAT!

Hmm interesting,

amazing how companies still underestimate how poor customer service will effect their company...and then they're surprised when they start failing...

Unfortunately we don't have the amazing choice that's available in the US and the UK so we'll stick to what we do have that works.

I used to feed my yorkies Evo small bites and then changed to Innova Small bites and they love it and every foster dog I get loves it too I hope the quality stays the same. Now I have a foster with epi so I was thinking of switching her over to the Innova but haven't made up my mind yet

Hi Mary Ellen... i too used to use Evo red meat small bites (grain-free)..my Izzy  loved it..... but then i stopped using it after it was bought out....

Thankfully there are a lot of grain free foods out there now..... so there are lots of choices that enables us to find what best suits our dogs ;)
