Hi All,

Olesia suggested I share this info, as I haven't seen reference to this product on this site yet.

Seems Viokase-V or Pancreatin 6/8 are the powders of choice, but since my Sandy was diagnosed in Dec '09, we've been using a porcine powder called Pancrease-V. Viokase-V was on backorder and this was priced equally with it. To date, we've had no problems with backorders. Its made by a Canadian pharmaceutical company called Bioniche Animal Health. I have since found it available online at Cross Border Pet Services, a Canadian pet medications supplier. http://www.crossborder-pet-services.com/. It comes in a 12oz bottle, and the cost through this company is currently $60 CDN (roughly half what I'd pay at the vets!). They ship to the US, and you can get up to 3 months worth at a time - prescription required.

Each teaspoon contains:

Lipase: 67,200 USP units

Protease: 280,000 USP units

Amylase: 280,000 USP units

I know the protease and amylase are lower than Viokase V, but we have had great success with it, giving roughly 1.5 teaspoons with each 2.25 Cup meal, so we use about 3 bottles per month.

Olesia, owned by Izzy-45lb SWD, Diagnosed at 1.5 years old - TLI results 1.3, Stable almost 7 yrs! Once stable, was able to reduce enzymes to only 1/2 tsp of Enzymes with each meal, but after almost 4 years of stabilization... had to increase the amount of enzymes to 3/4 teaspoon with each meal. Feed various grain-free kibble+real meat, 6x pancreatin enzymes from EnzymeDiane. I give 1 tsp of coconut oil one day and 1 tsp salmon oil next day, and also give canned sardines packed without salt or canned herring for extra omega oils.
