We are thinking about putting our GSD Matou on Beef pancreas as it all we can find by way of fresh pancreas.  My question is can you go between Beef and Pig pancreas?  If at some point we can get Beef and at other times only Pig would it hurt Matou to be going between them?

If someone who uses fresh pancreas could give any info on this I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you,

Hi Cam,

Sorry, I cannot help you as when we tried porcine (pig) pancreas it turned out to be more $$ than the Pancreatin and Tara wouldn't eat it...Hopefully Bernadette or others that use fresh pancreas can help???

Hi Matou's mom ~

I do not use fresh pancreas, so this is not from personal expereince... but from what i have read about fresh pancreas... i "suspect" that thety are probably interchangeable.... you might need a little more or less of one or the other... but finding the right dosage also varies within powdered, enteric and other packages/processed enzymes..........

Hopefully others who do use fresh pancreas will chime in ....if not, you might want to check with Lesley   Lesley@obrienandpartners.co.uk who also sells raw pancreas in the UK... she might be able to shed some light on this:

If anyone is interested in obtaining RAW PIG PANCREAS in the UK to treat their EPI dog with... please contact Lesley at

Olesia, owned by Izzy-45lb SWD, Diagnosed at 1.5 years old - TLI results 1.3, Stable almost 7 yrs! Once stable, was able to reduce enzymes to only 1/2 tsp of Enzymes with each meal, but after almost 4 years of stabilization... had to increase the amount of enzymes to 3/4 teaspoon with each meal. Feed various grain-free kibble+real meat, 6x pancreatin enzymes from EnzymeDiane. I give 1 tsp of coconut oil one day and 1 tsp salmon oil next day, and also give canned sardines packed without salt or canned herring for extra omega oils.
