It has been just about 48 hours, well a little but over and Matou has had 3 solid poo's so far. After nearly 3 months of runny or very soft poo these last three have been a miracle! We are hoping beyond hope that this will be the start of her getting better. It will take time, patience and a lot of love and she is very worth it.
I do however have another question.... It looks like she is really struggling to poo now. Will it just take her time to get re-adjusted to a normal poop?
I also would like to thank everyone so far that has given advice, it was very appreciated! Well here's hoping for more good poo.
Thank you, | |

Hi Cam, Woo hoo on the poos!!!! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. Perhaps after all these months of loose stools, her body may just need to readjust to pumping out harder stools?
Len said he noticed Fergus was also having a little trouble pumping out (his words) more solid poos, after a series of looser stools.
Cheers, Jacky & Fergus

Cam, that is just great, great news. There is nothing like seeing a good poop from our pups! I hope Matou is on the road to feeling much better. Kolby did have a bit of trouble with the formed poos at first, but it subsided fairly quickly and he was happy to produce regular stools again. Keep sending us the good news!!! Great work. Barb

That's wonderful, Cam. Sounds like Fergus and Kolby have had the same experience when the poops have firmed up.
To more good poops -

That is great news on the poop front! Watch the struggling and see if it is an issue or just that he needs to be accustomed to "normal" poops...

Hi Cam
That's great news - every time they go to the loo you say a little prayer that it will be solid.
Hope Matou is feeling better soon.

Hi Cam, that's good news. It's such a relief to see normal poo isn't it. Daisy has had normal ones for the last couple of days after many years and she also has had to work a bit harder and looks at her bum astonished that it is taking so long, but once it's out she dances around like a spring chicken. Woo Hoo great news for you and Matou.

Firm poops are magic... but be careful not to let the dog strain too much. If necesary a few drops of vegetable oil in the meal may help grease the works... but NOT TOO MUCH...or you will be back to square one again. Val

Congratulations! That is wonderful news. So now you know what the happy poop dance is all about, eh? Isn't it wonderful? Great job.
After months of soft poops, the first time Hondo had a 1/2 way normal one, he ran away, then ran back and looked at it, like what was that?. I think they do get used to it just pouring out of them. But, you don't want them straining, either. You may have to back off the enzyme some. I can't remember what others have done. Val had a good suggestion, too.

Isn't it wonderful for our pups to have good poops! We swear our neighbors think we must be crazy b/c I'm sure it looks like our favorite pasttime is "stool gazing"! But we epi'ers must keep an eye on things...right? When Onza's are really good (and knock on wood b/c lately they have been good) we say "they are bouncing"! But seriously, so glad things are better for you guys; are you keeping a log? That has proven to be so effective for us. Take care and wishing you bouncy poops soon! -- Onza - 6 years old in July 2011. Beautifull, extremely intelligent and diagnosed with EPI in April 2009 with TLi 0.4 ... she lost down to 55 lbs before we found Olesia through friends in our Schutzhund Club. So thankful to her and this wonderful website that gave us hope and guidance. "Be extra kind to everyone you encounter, because everyone is fighting a battle of some kind"... YAYYYYYY! Congratulations. I log definitely helps out a lot, therefore if you need to update your vet, you can give her a day by day play. However, I feel that the people here have been a little more helpful than my own vet. HORRAY for such generous, loving, and helpful people. I remember Bella's first poop after being on the enzymes. It did seem like she struggled in the beginning, but it definitely takes some time getting used to for the pup at first. You know, there are used to just ploppin them out! Ha ha ha ..this time it's taking a little more work. It's such a fantastic exerpience, and my neighbors probably think I'm a little bit insane, but if they had any idea how serious of an issue an EPI poop can be..then they would probably understand! Until then, I don't really care. As long as my baby girl is healthy. Are you still having good progress? I'm always so happy to hear this kind of good news. I know how I was, and I love for people to feel that same joy I did. Probably the best feeling ever..what a relief!
