Spoke with the vet again this morning, and stopped by to see Bailey. She is doing much better today. I misunderstood yesterday when I thought her liver and kidney function was below normal, as the vet talked with me today, and they are within normal range. He DID give her a B12 shot yesterday, along with the prednisone, and today she is EATING!!!
The vet said he had been doing research all last night, and we have both come together with the same information from different sources. He is looking into the powdered enzymes, and we plan to keep her on the d/d diet (haven't seen it yet, so unsure) and the enzymes and b12 and flagyl.
Since she is doing so much better, I am hopeful that we are on the right path.
I want to say that I do feel the vet is working with me, open to suggestion, and we are all going to work through this together.

Hi Michelle. I am so happy to hear your vet took the initiative and started doing his own research. He does sound like a good vet now. Many are, then you have the few who won't bother, which yours was starting to sound like. So glad he came around.
I am glad to hear she is eating again. That's a very good sign. You know you can order enzymes from www.enzymediane.com They are a lot cheaper. Of course, your vet will want you to try the prescription first, but these do work as well as those, at a lot better price. Just a thought to save some money for you guys, as I remember all too well in the beginning how expensive it all is. Things do get better, though. If you are going to keep on the B12, for around $10 you can order w/ a prescription, from kv vet or drs. foster and smith, both on line. Syringes are very cheap and the bottle should last you quite some time.
Just wanted to say that this is great news. Please keep us updated on how things go.

Good news, perhaps your vet spent the night reading this forum... While every dog is different we persisted with the Flagyl at vet's advice (and because they weren't familiar with Tylan) for what in hindsight was far too long. Try it for 30 days but if it doesn't work suggest to your vet to get some Tylan in asap. Craig
