Just wondering if anyone has tried Acana Food or heard of it. It seems very similiar to Orjen. It may be a sister company ,not sure, any info would be helpful or any other food in Canada, other than Med i cal  Gastro. That is what she is on. She is doing well with it.Almost scared to try any thing new, It is very expensive thou. Any thoughts would be helpful.

Thanks Wanda.

Hi Wanda

I haven't tried Acana but it's made by the same company that makes Orijen.  They have a lot of good info on their website, search for Champion Petfoods.  The site will also give you a comparison between Orijen and Acana.  Obviously, they aren't going to say anything bad, but from what I've read and in talking to others who have a wealth of info on dog food, I personally think their food is one of the best, if not the best on the market.  If I could afford it, all my dogs would be on Orijen.  You should contact them through the website, tell them your situation and request a couple sample bags.

The rescue I belong to recently had an on-line auction to raise money for Claire.  I spent hours emailing and writing letters to companies to get donations.  Champion Petfoods responding right away and gave us a generous donation.  What I love most about their food..............nothing in it is coming from China.

Hope this helps.

Hi Wanda,

I've been feeding both my pups the Acana Grassland for @ 2 months. They both like it. Gabi has finally started to gain a little weight too. I like it because they use fresh, local ingredients. It's the closest food to homemade quality that i could find that is easy to feed!! Now that they are both recouping from a bout of an intestinal issue (they got into rabbit poop that's been sitting in water-not a fun time), I will be slowing adding their supplements back in. It is more costly, but I'd rather pay more for good food & less at the vet's! The Acana is 60% protein, 40% fruit & veggies. The Orjen is 70%/30% and a little more expensive. They make cat food too. I'm happy with it. But most important, my "kids" like it!

Absolutely love Acana.  Jed has been on Acana Wild Harvest (I think that's the right name for his formula) for 2-3 years now and doing very, very well on it.  I incubate about 50 minutes.

THANKS for all the info. A girl i work with feeds her pup Acana (non epi dog). I liked  what she was telling me and we can get it at a local feed depot. and it is about 40$ less a bag then i am spending right now. So as before i knew she had epi ,add gradually i would assume, I am going to try it.

Hi Wanda,

I tried Teddy on both the Grasslands and the Prairie Harvest and he was good on both. I have tried so many grain free that it would be probably be easier to say what I haven't tried! Some I have used only once because I didn't like the high carb content but he has been on the Arcana several times.
