I'm wondering if Blue's changing poop might be the start of some bacterial thing going on....

Bella is the same, very gassy (wet) and rumbling belly. Her poos will get runnier after a couple days. Sometimes she acts like she is not confortable, can't settle down to sleep etc.

Bella, English Bulldog, diagnosed at 5 mos and only 8.3lbs. Just switched to 6x Pancreatin mixed with DVP venison and sweet Potatoe with Raw patties, always grain-free. 2x daily, incubated for 20 mins.  After 4 weeks, gained 9.2!!! To date,2 yrs and 33lbs.Thanks to everyone here, she has been maintained for 6 months now. This site saved my sanity.

Yep, the rumbling belly, the gas, the vurps, the poops start to REALLY stink, the mucous and the yellowing - (for us that is the full progression of SIBO)    ahhhhhhhhhhhh!   Scares me to think of it...

If you are thinking you may be dealing with it - you might want to consider starting the Tylan and nipping it off...

Yep, you guys said it with the stinky poop!!!  Oh my gosh I almost started gagging when I walked her this morning!  It smelled so bad and I'm not feeling well to begin with so......we will start Tylan today.  And then all her pukies she's been getting too....I just need to remember the dosage.  Also, I used to mix it with canned food because I know she didn't like it.  Now what???  I don't use canned food anymore?

Angie, If you need to put the tylan in capsules, I just bought the capsule filler and 00 capsules on line from Wonder Labs. $30 for both.

This doesn't take as much time as it sounds like - but I got small empty gel caps, made a small paper cone and I've been filling capsules for Panda.  I know it's yet another thing to do, but I do it while watching TV in the evening once in a while and I can fill a pill bottle pretty fast with them.  I've learned to wear a mask, not sure I want Tylan powder going in my nose.   I found small measuring spoons on Amazon, because Panda's dose is 1/16th teaspoon twice a day.

Our vet told me yesterday about someone who goes to a compounding pharmacy that mixes the tylan with powdered sugar and makes special capsules or something.  But I'll have to stick to what we do.

Pandora (Panda) TLI 4.6  Cobalamin 531   Folate  18     Panda was a rescue Pembroke Welsh Corgi, likely from a puppy mill.    Bio case V Enzymes 3/4 teaspoon per cup of food, incubated 30 minutes.  Metro for SIBO, Baytril and amoxicillin for Lyme, because she couldn't tolerate doxycycline.   Milk thistle 75 mg a day while on the antibiotics.   1/8th teaspoon Green Blend vitamin mineral powder, working up to 1/4th teaspoon.  Attempted to compromise between remedial dietary needs for gastric problems and remedial dietary needs for kidney problems with home cooked diet from Lew Olson's book "Raw and Natural Nutrition for Dogs".  Passed away March 7,- kidneys, liver, gall bladder, neurological symptoms throughout.  Even though we only had her two months, she is sorely missed.

Hi Angie. SIBO can sneak up in many different ways. And not always the same way ea time. For us, it has started w/ throwing up the yellow bile in the a.m, maybe throwing up a bit of food during the day. Not eating w/ gusto. Rumbling belly, gas, softer poop. Smelly burps, not playing as long before wearing out. Poop not as firm, getting softer. Diarrhea out of the blue. It can be a comination or just one or 2. When I see one thing out of the ordinary, I go on alert. When more than one, I know and try to nip it in the bud, like slippery elm, pumpkin. If that doesn't work, stays the same or gets worse, I know what is going on. And this can be while trying to stop anti's or while on them, as he is on them so much, there are times I have to switch. So it basically is watching them, knowing what is normal for them and going on alert when you notice anything different and you know you did not make a change, they did not counter surf anything or sneak something off the ground....

OK, started Tylan...and she took it!  My vet said 2 tsp total per day so I spread that out over three feddings.  How much do youguys give of Tylan?  She didn't puke last night so maybe she never needed pepcid and needed the Tylan.  :)

So........at 7#, what dosage should I give Buddy Lee?  I am trying to make a vet appt; I do think we have the beginnings of SIBO rearing it's ugly head.  He finally ate this morning.....but it's been since Tuesday that he's actually eaten both meals and yesterday all he ate was some grass.  Last night we had grumbly guts and stinky poots.  His poop was good yesterday but I'm almost afraid to look today.  :-(

Thanks for the info Michele!  Where did you find that info?  Cuz it's not on my bottle at all.  It only gives dosage amounts for chickens and swine......weird!

Hi Kate~

Hi Kate, if my math is correct....Buddy Lee should get 1/32 of a tsp twcie a day..... now you can either take 1/8 of a tspoon dive it in half and then divide one oof those piles in half....OR..............go to or contact places like Bed Bath and Beyond  (or some fancy Linen store) or go to AMAZON and get these ... their actual measurements are 1/8, 1/16 and 1/32... this is what i use to measure.

Olesia, owned by Izzy-45lb SWD, Diagnosed at 1.5 years old - TLI results 1.3, Stable almost 7 yrs! Once stable, was able to reduce enzymes to only 1/2 tsp of Enzymes with each meal, but after almost 4 years of stabilization... had to increase the amount of enzymes to 3/4 teaspoon with each meal. Feed various grain-free kibble+real meat, 6x pancreatin enzymes from EnzymeDiane. I give 1 tsp of coconut oil one day and 1 tsp salmon oil next day, and also give canned sardines packed without salt or canned herring for extra omega oils.

Angie~

For us, Izzy will either all of a suffen have mushy poos ... i observe and if it happens for two days in a row... then i start the Tylan on the 3rd day.... cause sometimes, if just bad poos and nothing else... for us it means something just didn't agree with her and it passes.... but other times, if it happens consistently for two full ays in a row......it's SIBO and i treat.

Also... sometimes the poo is perfectly fine... but she starts with the gas...and a little tummy gurgling....again... if the gasstarts  happening everyday ... along with tummy noises... that is always a sure sign for us that it is SIBO on the horizon and we start the Tylan..
