Hi Shirley Sorry to hear that Penny is doing poorly. I would try to find a vet in your area that has evening hours or morning hours on Sat. Results from whatever testing they do can certainly be transferred to your own vet and you wouldn't have to repeat anything. Excessive drinking can be a sign of diabetes, indicating she's running way too high. If this is the case she needs insulin but without running a glucose level on her you don't want to give insulin. I have no idea where you live but most pharmacies carry Keto-Diastix. These are test strips that can be used to check urine for ketones and glucose. Very simple to use and this would let you know if she has glucose in her urine, but once again if she was positive, insulin is the answer. I wish I could offer you some advice to carry you through the weekend, but my best advice to you is get her into a vet. I will certainly keep both you and Penny in my thoughts and prayers. Keep us posted. Sue and Claire | |
