Hi everyone,

I have an ANNOUNCEMENT but first for those who don’t know me, I am Julie Hamilton from the UK and, sadly, an absent member of this fabulous forum, Thankfully, I came across the forum when Angel, at nearly 7 years old, was diagnosed with EPI and distemper in August 2009. The help and support here is second to none! Angel is now 9 years and will be 10 this December and is doing exceptionally well ...... so well that we had to put her on a mini-diet! We had a little blib a few weeks ago that took as back to the early days of constantly walking round with the mob and bucket :( but this was due to cutting her enzyme dose. All is well now that she is back on normal dose. We won’t do that again!

I have missed the forum terribly but life and my charity work keeps me constantly busy. So, this leads me to my announcement ……. New Life Parrot Rescue, a UK registered charity, is proud to support EPI research and as such is raising funds through the purchase of a purple virtual brick on a ‘Wall of Fame’ for UK, EU and USA donors. We are operating the EPI Appeal from our website through our WorldPay online secure payment facility. The charity will transfer through this forum to EPI Research via PayPal each collective sum of £25 raised toward this worthy appeal .

This link http://www.nlpr.org.uk/appeals/relocation-appeal/epi-appeal will explain the finer details and how YOU can purchase a brick, which allows the placement of text – not too long - of your choice – you could make a dedication or have the name of your beloved pup, whatever you like proving your text isn’t too long for the brick to contain.

Recap: You can purchase the EPI purple brick in our Gift Shop, using WorldPay secure online payment facility. Please note that on the payment page there is a text box for any message you would like placed on your purple brick. We have dedicated and illustrated on our Wall of Fame the first purple brick "In loving memory of Hope" by kind permission of Pam, Hope’s beloved person. If the two links in this paragraph don’t work, they are embedded on the main EPI Appeal page from the above main link.

My sincere thanks to Olesia for naturally supporting this effort.

Warmest best wishes to you and your beautiful fur-babies,

Julie, Angel and Shayne

How awful of me that I should make a mistake with Angel's age at the time of EPI diagnosis - it was such a stressful time! Angel was nearly 8 years old on EPI diagnosis. It is trivial but might help others with comparative ageing EPI dogs.

Olesia, owned by Izzy-45lb SWD, Diagnosed at 1.5 years old - TLI results 1.3, Stable almost 7 yrs! Once stable, was able to reduce enzymes to only 1/2 tsp of Enzymes with each meal, but after almost 4 years of stabilization... had to increase the amount of enzymes to 3/4 teaspoon with each meal. Feed various grain-free kibble+real meat, 6x pancreatin enzymes from EnzymeDiane. I give 1 tsp of coconut oil one day and 1 tsp salmon oil next day, and also give canned sardines packed without salt or canned herring for extra omega oils.

My pleasure to give back a little something! This wretched disease causes a huge amount of suffering and heartache and I'm in the position to rightfully manipulate and thus direct some funding to EPI research. I am also happy to print some brochures for my vet to display in the surgery. Thankfully, Angel's vet is on the ball but, in general, the UK fall behind the US with diagnosing and treating this disease.

Gosh ... I do miss you guys and hope that I can find the time to pop in now and then to the forum. I'm so sad that Donna has left, but I understand her reason. I promise to keep trying to pop in and say "Hi"!

Warmest best wishes ~  Julie, Angel and Shayne
