Wallace will not eat, he won't eat grain free, he won't eat home cooked, at a push he will eat a little raw but only when he feels like it.

He's lost 3kg, all this since his little procedure to check his bladder. Been back to the vet and we're pretty sure it's a problem with acid reflux so more meds.

There is something really bad going on when an unstable EPI dog won't eat. He was stable and doing really well but poos are bad again, and he's not stable at the moment. He has had two B12 injections in the last 3 weeks, so B12 should be ok.

Trying everything to get him to eat. Giving him organic honey to see if that will soothe things.

Really worried now that something sinister is going on with him. Vet says if there is no improvement by the end of the week then he will get scanned next week.

My poor little boy is a bag of bones again. I know this forum can do magical things. Please send some magic to Scotland.

Oh No...Don't like reading this, Anja has only refused to eat a few times and i started her by hand feeding to start her off and i changed her dish, to a flatter type bowl and mixed two different types instead of the same one, and a few times i dumped it on the floor, and that started her too as i think she thought it was something she wasn't suppose to have. i have never dealt withacid reflux, no help here,i hope someone else chimes in with more knowledge than me, i have been called 'Wanda the Witch";).Wish i could cast a spell. Keep us posted.

Try not to worry too much Gillian, you've a good vet and lots of backup, might just be an infection or discmofort from the procedure that will resolve itself with a bit of help (we all hope!).

Have you tried to hand feed him?  I have to hand feed kain the remainder of his dish 80 percent of the time or he will just not eat. What about parm cheese on top or some egg? Sorry, just trying to think ofthe things that work for Kain. I too have already put the gross enzyme food on the floor for Kain like Anja gets and have tried spoons in the past as well.  Sometimes I think I am force feeding him when he just seems to refuse to eat.  i will put the food in my cupped hand and put my other hand over his head. The fist bite or so he is hesitant, then I think he remembers, OH, that is food, I need that, that is yummy! I hope your pup is ok.

Maybe Wallace will eat some yoghurt? Cottage cheese? Potatoes? Something new and untried might get him to take an interest. It must be so worrying for you - you and Wallace are in my thoughts - sending you lots of positive energy your way, all the way to Scotland.

Thanks everyone, think the poitive thoughts are reaching out. Was feeling rather desperate yesterday when I posted but today has been better.

He won't eat any kind of kibble, has turned his nose up at 3 different grain free varieties. He won't eat kibble not matter what it's been covered in, or what's mixed in with it. So we tried home cooked, he ate fine for 3 days then stopped eating again. So I spoke with a lady who feeds her EPI dog raw, her dog has had EPI for 6 years and is happy and healthy, so we tried raw, brilliant eating for 3 days then he stopped eating again.

He's not been right for 3 weeks now and his breathing isn't right, it's fast and at times really niosy. The vet has checked his heart and lungs and they are fine. He's been on meds since Tuesday and I think (hope) we are seeing a little light at the end of the tunnel.

I decided to offer him smaller meals to hopefully get him eating again, and I have doubled the amount of pancreas to make sure that there is a maximum chance of what he is eating getting fully digested. TODAY HE HAS EATEN 2 MEALS SO FAR!!! YIPPPEEEE!! Hoping he'll eat a third later tonight.

You can just see that he's not well, but today he lifted a ball and gave me the 'chase me' look that I haven't seen for a while.

Still really worried that there is something bad going on with him, but if there is we will just have to cross that bridge when we come to it.

Thank you so much for all your hope, support and positive thoughts.

Lots of love Gillian and Wallace

Hi Gillian,

This is such a roller coaster, isn’t it? I know too well what it’s like to have a dog not want to eat as Tara occasionally pulls this on me and the thing is, once she goes a day or two without eating, she just starts getting worse and worse about eating and things begin to spiral down quickly. In fact, for the last couple of months, she’s been eating very little for me. In the very beginning, when we started off down this road, in my bag of tricks I found a cheap grocery store food called “Mighty Dog”. For whatever reason, she loved the stuff and I began giving her a small amount in her food to entice her to eat. I’d let her take a few licks from the can to get a taste of it, then mix a couple of teaspoons real well in her food and she’d eat it. I decided to try this again and picked up a couple of cans of Purina’s “Chef Michael’s Creations” and pulled the trick I used to do and it’s been working. She hasn’t skipped a meal in over a week now since I’ve been doing this!! While I wouldn’t advocate this food by any stretch, you’ve got to do what you’ve got to do, as they say. BTW, what’s really funny is this food is marketed for small toy-type dogs as it comes in this tiny can with pictures of small dogs on it…I think Tara secretly wants to be a toy dog…  :)

Our prayers and thoughts are with you and Wallace. I have so enjoyed  following the Wallace story and we are just in a creepy chapter. We gave Dutch baby food to entice him to eat.  Sometimes we just gave him the baby food but at least he was eating something. Our dogs love the sweet potato and at one point I found ..... ready for this...... Salmon baby food in the reduced aisle at the store. Can't imagine why it didn't sell. Hang in there.
