Hey, I just realized it's been almost a whole year since I adopted the Godzilla, so I wrote out Vito's full adoption story on Lizzie's blog...I realized I'd never really sat down and put it into writing, and I want to make sure I remembered it forever..so, here it is.  Warning:  You may need tissues.

Beautiful, Alyssa. You were right, tissues were needed. And I know there's more (dirty carpets and all...). Vito is a very luck boy and I'm sure he knows it.

Hehe, yeah.  Just remembering how relieved he looked when I came back for him...I tear up all over again!  Yeah, we had our ups and downs, but it was worth it.  All the carpet stains in the world couldn't keep me from loving this dog. <3

First off, Love love love the picture of Lizzie with the pirate hat! I never saw those pictures of Vito. Didn't know how bad it got for him.  I can't imagine how sick you must have felt just having to leave him there one more night until the paperwork was complete. I am so glad that you have Vito, you have such a good heart. What a lovely family, you Lizzie and Vito.  He has come such a long way and he is such a big healthy boy now, thanks to you!!!

Alyssa,  that is one beautiful story.    It was love at first sight for you and Vito.   How courageous and generous of you to take him, not knowing at the time if he could regain his health.  Look how you turned him around.   You are one strong lady.   And he is one lucky boy!!  Congratulations to both of you.

I had pretty much decided that even if he was too sick to make it, at least he could die somewhere comfortable and feeling loved.  Luckily it didn't come to that!  Years have fallen off him since I adopted him.  If I saw him as his before self standing next to his now self and didn't know better, I would have sworn they were two different animals.  Back then, he was so skinny...I still occasionally will just call out "No more bony butt!"  and give him butt pettings to celebrate the lack of protruding hip bones.  Yeah, I'm a dork, I know. :D

Beautiful story...I have been hesitant to read this thread because I just didn't want to cry.   No tears...just a huge smile that he found his perfect home!   Thank you for being a beautiful soul and providing him with a loving home...beautiful.

The other day I ran into a local shelter to drop off some blankets.  When we pulled into the parking lot 2 beautiful shepherds were being walked - I kept staring at them - it was pulling my heartstrings.   I went inside to drop off the blankets while my husband waited in the car.   Dropped off the blankets and on the way out 2 women were sitting there (workers) - we started talking and I broke into tears - sobbing uncontrollably - it broke my heart to see those 2 beautiful shepherds - thinking my Dex could have been one of them and how many "Dex's" are out there.   It took me forever to compose myself to get back to my husband.

Thank you Alyssa and thank you to everyone who has opened their heart to these amazing creatures and given them another chance at life.
