There was an animal psychic at the dog walk so we took Shadow to see her. She asked what we wanted to know and all I said to her was I found Shadow.

She pretty much told me exactly how I found Shadow.

1. She had been tied up and abandoned at a house when her people left her. She slipped the collar and would sit by the driveway waiting for them. (that's where I first saw her and the house was abandoned)

2. she was allowed to roam and spent most of her time outside alone and had never seen a vet

3. she left that house to go look for me

4. she knows I helped her and she knows our friends helped us financially.

5. she never had the affection she has now and is very grateful and likes her name

6. You tell her she's your girl

7. what is this jumping or leaping thing you let her do? and what is this cuddling she is telling me? (I let her sleep on the bed and cuddle)

8. she loves you and your family very much and knows you will never hurt her

I just didn't know what to say. She got all of that from me just saying I found Shadow and she pretty much got the entire story down

Well, being a Tarot card reader, I dont find this in the least odd.   This person is good, and there are many people who hve clarvoyance.   Shortly after I lost my sweet Ms. Beasley, I went to a taping of the TV show of this psychic James Van Praugh.  he hears messages from the dead.    He picked me out of the crowd and told me I had just lost a dog.   He then went into what she was saying to him.  He said "she likes it by a vent, at the foot of the bed."   He repeated this over and over, and I did not understand it. He kept saying "SHE LIKES IT, SHE LIKES IT"   "BY THE VENT, BY THE VENT." You see, Beasley was 150 lbs Great Dane and could never ly at the foot of the bed.   She was too big.   Also, I live on a boat, so there are no 'VENTS'.   I came home not very impressed.   Thsi is until I got back to the boat and notices that her ashes were (and still are) on a shelf in my boat at the foot of the bed.......and that there is a HATCH right above them.       Food for thought.

I sometimes wonder about the bond between us and our dogs.

I have never met anyone who spoke for my dog but my own feelings seem to sometimes connect with those dogs I love or have loved.

Two things come to mind... the first was when Razzy was young and we took her to a rescue show to raise funds for them... we wandered around maybe a hundred dogs when I glance over and my eyes met those of a little mutt... I was frozen suddenly because I KNEW I was looking into the eyes of my long lost Shandy.

When I walked over and knelt down this strange mutt came and loved me enthusiastically... the owners were gobsmacked because he was a frightened rescue who never went to anyone.

I told them about my feelings and they were interested... I asked them to be kind to him because he was very special.

When I left I looked back and this dog's eyes seemed to smile as if to say... don't worry, I will be fine...I'm glad we met again'... I get a shiver everytime I think of it.

The second time was when Razzy was at the vet for the last time... she was having an op to remove her spleen and I had a call to say it was going well.

I sat at my computer and looked at the pic of her on the desktop..after about 10mins I felt her calling me and I touched her face and started to cry... I knew she had said goodbye to me... a few mins later the vet called to say they had lost her with a sudden heart attack.

I have often said I wish they could talk... but sometimes they DO!

Don, reading this post gives me a shiver because I had a very similiar experience about a month ago. A friend of mine had put me in touch with a pet psychic after she had a very positive outcome with her.

I was a little curious & thought it might be interesting to see what she said. We have 5 dogs ( 3 Corgis & 2 Shelties) & 1 cat. One of the dogs is a rescue, and of course we have Addie - our EPI dog. Since her diagnosis, many of our feeding time habits, as well as treat habits have had to be adjusted due to Addie. So....it was with great interest that we called this Psychic, since our house can be quite the zoo at times, especially around meal time.

She lives in Arizona & we live in Texas- have never met. We were on the phone for almost an hour. She spent about 10 minutes on each animal and was so shockingly accurate in her assessments about each one's well-being, that we were both stunned & amazed. She nailed each dog's personality to a T- without any prompting at all. Sure did make a believer out of us. The things she told us were accurate & many things were traits that only we would know.   UNBELIEVABLE!!!! So, I may not have this type of gift, but she sure did!:)

I love love love this thread.   Don - I have no doubt the woman connected with Shadow's energies - isn't it amazing!!!    You had to be so blown away!   Yes, there are people who are fakes, BUT...there are truly gifted individuals and I have no doubt you came across one.   How heartwarming to hear all she told you - it just warms my heart.

Brenda - OMG...I cannot believe you had the honor of being selected by James van Praug (sp.) - he is AMAZING!!!   How cool that he selected you - that truly was a gift.   Isn't it funny - when we open our hearts and minds we can see things so differently.   I am so happy you were able to make the connection he was speaking of - when you saw those ashes - what an ah ha moment.

Val - I teared up reading your story - I have no doubt you connected with your doggies.   They absolutely speak to us in ways we are not used to and you were communicating - I have no doubt.   What beautiful shares - thank you for sharing that - it is so special.

My Reiki teacher is an animal communicator (her name is Caly Lehrer - check her out on the internet) - she is beyond talented - I have worked with her in the past with Dex and she helped me immensely when he first came into our life.   When we stop and just listen - amazing things can be heard...

Thank you for sharing this Don - very cool stuff indeed!  :)

Wonderful stories all.   Yep Michele,  Van Praugh picked me out of the crowd.  Since you know him I will tell you something else he did.  As a prep, when Beasley died, my dearest cousin Pat flew down  from Northern California and spend a week with me during my greiving.  (btw, I have never has such sorrow, and it is still here, 11 years later).  Anyway, we were together for a week and looked at old photos and reminised of our childhoods.  This show was like a year later.  The first thing he said to me after singling me out as the one who had lost the dog was  "I have a message for Pat, from her Mother."   Pat had not been to see me in a year.  He said "she was watching you and Pat look at old photos."   Pat's Mother passed many many years ago.  I was a kid then.   I was totally shocked!!!!    He said "Someone near Pat is trying to quit smoking, and Pat should help HIM."   What the heck!!!   That was the message for Pat, and then he went on with stuff from Beasley, like I said before.

I called PAT, of course.  Pat's son-in-law, which she lives with, was trying to stop smoking.   Here is the kicker.......Pat's mother died of Lung Cancer.

Trust me, when he told me Pat's Mother was there I was totally shocked.  Especially since I hadnt thought of her Mother, or Pat for that matter, for a very long time.  Van Praugh is totally amazing.  After that showing, I went back several times to his taping, just to watch him at work.   That is the benefit of living near LA.   Oh, have I mentioned that they film DEXTER here in the marina where I live.   So, all of you that watch it, check out the background.....this is my home.   LOL

What a very cool thread!  We've used an animal communicator once, to try and get some insight into issues that both Bree and Cedar were having.  It was about a year after we had adopted Bree.  She spent quite a bit of time speaking with Toby though...he was very chatty with her.   And he came and stood in front of me and talked to me, tilting his head from side to side as I listened to what Lauren was telling me he was saying.  Toby did talk to me like that often, and did on his last day to tell me it was time for him to go.  She was also really accurate about some of the issues we were having, health things we knew and didn't know about.  Cedar told her that her tummy hurt...she was diagnosed with EPI about 6 months later.  I've been wanting to contact her again.  Next weekend it will be a year since Toby passed and I still miss him so.  Brenda, like your Mrs Beasley, I have never known a grief such as this and it feels still fresh a year later.  I wonder if Lauren would bring me a message from him...I feel he's still near.  I'd also like to hear what young Mr Griffin has to say and see if we could convince him to stop eating shoes and peeing in the house!!  Our communicator's name is Lauren Bode

Awesome thread Don and everyone else !!!!  I took our last GSD Sadie, to an animal whisperer. I saw it advertised in a local paper and have always been fascinated . This was just after we learned of her EPI, but she, I would have to look up her name, nailed Sadie down to a tee. She told me that she almost died at birth.. correct , her had mother chewed the unbillical cord off to close and she had to get stitches, That she was the first to get out of the whelping box, the first to escape from the puppy enclosure, about her sore tummy, and how she is feeling much better now that she has that awful stuff every meal...even on her treats, correct, as I would dampen and sprinkle her milk bones with enzymes each morning and hand them out during the day. Also Sadie "asked us to stop yelling at her so much!!!" and she would settle down !!!  She was very vibriant and excessively active and never slept..   I don't think that we were yelling as we think of yelling... but we started talking to her very quietly and guess what ?  She  was a changed girl..more willing to listen, and do as we asked., that included staying off the bed at night as I would wake up and  not feel my feet !!! I totally believe it helped us through the rest of your years (10) including herinated back disc surgery , after that  communication seemed to be a breeze...  bless these  people and good they can do !!!

Wow, this is all so amazingly cool!  I tried to ask a friend once who claimed to be an animal communicator if they could help me figure out what was wrong with Vito, back before he was diagnosed, he BSed excuses and I finally gave up.  :(

I met a prophet once...or at least that's what he said he was.  But that was more my future than my pups, and his thing seemed to be sending everyone off to go on missions.  :/  He said 'You don't like to see things suffer.  I see you reaching down and helping people who are suffering.'  Well..yeah, no sane person would like to see suffering!  But I guess if you replaced 'people' with 'dogs' it'd be sorta accurate.

I should see if there's an animal communicator here, it would be interesting to hear what Vito and Liz have to say!

Proud mommy to Vito, 3(?) yr old GSD.  90lbs, goal weight 85-90lbs (ACHIEVED!).  Tested positive for EPI on March 30th, 2011.  His TLI was 1.0, Cobalamin 225, Folate 22.  Feeding 2 cups of Taste of the Wild Bison once a day with one teaspoon of Pancreatin 8x enzymes per meal.

Also proud mommy of a (non EPI) Belgian Malinois tripod named Lizzie.  That means three legs. :P  Who is completely spoiled rotten, loves kids, and will be going into therapy dog training as soon as I can afford it.
