Cassie is a compulsive puller.... if I walk her one mile I cover five miles turning round and bring her back to heel every ten yards.

I have tried a half check colloar... a Halti head collar... a Gentle Leader and she has learned NOTHING!

Today she was full of p**s and vinegar and pulled all the way out and half the way back... then I spotted a dead pheasant on the grass verge.... Now, I don't go for eating something that was bashed by a car and lay in the grass but I take them home and skin or feather... clean and gut then mince them for the dog's raw diet.

So, I picked up Mr Pheasant and carried on walking... now Cassie had never seen me do that before and she was facinated by this dead creature dangling by its legs. So facinated that she walked home like a little lamb.

So, there you have it!

If your dog pulls on a lead all you have to do is carry a dead pheasant down the road.

It works like MAGIC!

We're hillbillies here in the mountains of North Carolina (Appalachia). Do you think Opossum or "Coon" would work as well:P? It certainly would smell a lot more I would think!

Cripes Val, I was at a pheasant farm the other day, I shoulda' brought back a brace or two for 'Lu

Actually, having said that she's a pretty good walker except when we're off to the park in which case she was always a pulling fiend. Tried everything, advice, training, different leads etc etc but then we tried walking her on her car harness because a friend at doggy park said it worked for their lead-loser and WHAM! worked a treat! As soon as Lulu had completley free movement of her head she sat up in her gait and stopped pulling away. We then got her a proper walking chest harness (with moldable chest plate natch) and she's like a new dog and of course, thinks she's extra clever (as if that's possible :roll:

Now I just gotta get me that skateboard...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vU_UfXpP9BI

Yes I actually did look at the video!!!!!!! LOVE IT! Grossed out by all the dead animal stories, but the EZY DOG Chest Plate harness might work.  Looks like the one Kain has, but his is by Gentle Leader. Angel uses the Gentle Leader that goes around the mouth, (the one everyone thinks is a muzzle- I tell them no, she can still bite you!), but Kain did not do well on it so I tried the under the belly one by gentle leader, works much better.  I am sure there are many more Cassie stories to come!!!

OMG Val.   This is hilarious..... sure would have saved me a lot of money on collars and halters.....Kolby was a puller too.     I couldn't dare do this though.   We have resident ducks here and if I started bringing home anything that even remotely resembled a dead duck, I would be in deep trouble.   (Daphne is one saucy female you don't want mad at you...once when I didn't get her food fast enough, she banged on the door, then followed me into the house!)

Looks like you will be out hunting pheasant.   Cassie will have you trained yet.
