I haven't posted in a while because in the past I would post and then we would lose ground :( . It is amazing Brodie has made it as long as he has. While I knew he had food allergies and EPI it ws the IBD part  that I was missing..We have just had our second weight gain in a row ! from 36 to 38.9 and now he is 41.9. This is mostly because my raw food source finally got in Venison and he is really doing great on the Venison. It is  seasonal   so I am stock piling it as I can to make it last as long as I can for him. We are almost off pred and have not lost any ground.  I have not retested the liver values but am hoping they will improve as he seems to be improving over all.  We are not "out of the woods" yet but I can see some light and am hopeful that things will continue .  Now I do know I was doing everything right with the EPI while at the time it seemed that I must have been doing something wrong as nothing seemed to help him. Once we addressed the IBD part of the problem , got him on raw so his gi wouldn't have to work so hard to process the food, found the right mix with the raw diet , he couldn't handle some of the veggies mostly used for fiber I had to find what worked for him,  found a protein he can handle and got the bovine enzymes going things began to level out a bit. It took time for the weight to start back up and my food group told me it could take months for the gi to heal.  So I am very hopeful everything will continue to improve. :)

More fantastic news to round off the year!! Congratulations on some hard fought weight gain Cindi! I'm always in awe of those who not only deal with EPI but often with multiple health challenges as well. Very well deserved beginning to the New Year!

Yaayyy Brodie!!

Yeah! It's great when things are going well. We all need to remember that there can be other things going on in these hard to manage cases. I admire all of you that are dealing with more than just epi. Hugs to you all!

What wonderful news!  Congratulations on the weight gain, and I hope posting doesn't jinx it!  You've worked so hard to help him, and I'm glad he seems to be feeling better.  Great job!

OMG, OMG, OMG!!!!

Brodie is up to 41.9 that is fantastic / amazing news!!!!! Not sure if anyone is aware of Brodie's issues.... but if you looked at a veterinarian medical handbook... i think Brodie's picture would probably be in every gastro chapter... Cindi and Brodie have been thru the wringer- -so many multiple issues to deal with..... Cindi you have done an amazing job getting Brodie to settle out ...., and EnzymeDiane too.... helping  with the enzymes (Brodie is one of the few dogs that actually has a true allergy to pork....so the enzymes have been a trial to work with)....this is just  AMAZING news!!!

CONGRATULATIONS....What a great way to bring in the New Year!!!! :)

Olesia, owned by Izzy-45lb SWD, Diagnosed at 1.5 years old - TLI results 1.3, Stable almost 7 yrs! Once stable, was able to reduce enzymes to only 1/2 tsp of Enzymes with each meal, but after almost 4 years of stabilization... had to increase the amount of enzymes to 3/4 teaspoon with each meal. Feed various grain-free kibble+real meat, 6x pancreatin enzymes from EnzymeDiane. I give 1 tsp of coconut oil one day and 1 tsp salmon oil next day, and also give canned sardines packed without salt or canned herring for extra omega oils.

Well he felt that I got too excited and decided to have a  GM at 1030 last nite and kept us up till the wee hours of the am... sigh not sure what if anything this will mean..... I am just hoping it was just one of those things and no more are in store. He certainly can't handle going back on anti seizure meds with his gi issues.....

Good news to hear Brodie's gained some weight and is doing well on the raw venison!  Hopefully his seizures back down and give up.  Maybe he would be different on the meds now that his gut is doing better, if he does need them.  Praying for a seizure free year too!
