Hi everyone,

Monday I switched Wyatt back to kibble. The couple that have expressed interest in adopting him, do not want to feed raw :(( I'm disappointed by not surprised. So he's getting 3 cups TOTW lamb and 2 1/4 tsp of 8x a.m. & p.m. his nice firm, formed brown stools have given way to soft grayish poops :( I know it'll take a while for his system to adjust, but I feel like we're going backwards,he's also getting 1/3 tsp of Tylan. I'll continue with the daily log, and hopefully will see some improvement in a week or so.

Thanks,

Marti & Wyatt

Hi

Just wondering as i read this, did you change all at once or gradually.  If all at once it might be too much shock to the system, even non epi dogs  sometimes need to change gradually, just wondering, .. My girl needs a gradual change when i try a new non grain.  good luck.

Thanks Wanda,

When I was feeding kibble to my dogs I always changed brands gradually over the course of several days. With raw I make the switch cold turkey or vise versa. Some say it's ok to mix raw & kibble others say don't. I just go with what has worked for me in the past...so right or wrong I don't mix raw with kibble. I'm hoping I can get Wyatt going on kibble b/c these people are great. He would have an awesome home!

Marti,

You'll get Wyatt back on track, you did it once and you will do it again. The enzyme ratio sounds right but I don't know how much you were using when he was on raw. So just a reminder that raw takes less enzymes so kibble will take more. I know what you mean but don't take it as going backwards, just an adjustment that might take a little time.

But the good news is you found a great family for Wyatt!

HI Marti.... so glad that the family that is going to give Wyatt a forever home are nice people.... but sorry he is having a little issue transitioning to kibble...

since the color of the poo is gray....and we know you just changed from raw to kibble... the gray color usually indicates non-absorbtion"... so.... you might want to try increasing the enzymes by a pinch (1/8 teaspoon) because of the kibble vs raw... see if this improves the poo... keep us posted

Olesia, owned by Izzy-45lb SWD, Diagnosed at 1.5 years old - TLI results 1.3, Stable almost 7 yrs! Once stable, was able to reduce enzymes to only 1/2 tsp of Enzymes with each meal, but after almost 4 years of stabilization... had to increase the amount of enzymes to 3/4 teaspoon with each meal. Feed various grain-free kibble+real meat, 6x pancreatin enzymes from EnzymeDiane. I give 1 tsp of coconut oil one day and 1 tsp salmon oil next day, and also give canned sardines packed without salt or canned herring for extra omega oils.

Thanks everyone ! Wyatt's morning poo was much more formed, a golden brown color and not quite as much volume. I'll keep in touch with updates :)

Excellent!!!!! SOunds like his system is getting used to it... YEAH!!!... But you know the drill.. just keep an eye on the poo... and if you think it warrants it... then increase the enzymes a pinch....

Congratulations, Marti on finding a potentially great home for Wyatt.   I am sure it is just a matter of finding the right food to get him balanced on the kibble.

What a wonderful, caring gift you have given.    Wyatt is so lucky that you were able to take him in and get him ready for his forever home. And we are lucky to know you.
