I thought I had a local Feed and seed that would be a source for the Tylan 100mg and the B12 injections, but it now seems that they can't get those items. Does anyone have a good source that they have found good prices with? I need help knowing what to order on the B12 injections also. Not to be really graphic but the poo sees to finally be normalizing due to the food change-no grain, and the PanaKare Plus. Thanks to all who have reached out to help her!!

-- Shelby born December 24, 2010-Pure Bred Border Collie-Female-wt.35lbs (was 29 lbs) First symptoms of EPI started November 2011 after her first heat..Was not tested for EPI because we ran out of money going to the vet for other tests and meds. We decided based on her symptoms to go ahead and treat her for EPI. Right now we are free-feeding dry kibble "Earthbound Holistic-Grain Free" with Bison (we are crushing the pills-PanaKare Plus-2 pills 2-3 times per day) and mixing them into the food. She has also been on probiotic and dewormers, antibiotic (although I think it was not long enough-2 weeks) and B-12 shots. Her stools firming up some. Tummy still making a lot of noise. Need Tylan 100 powder and B12 shots. Sherry

Hello Sherry - I have bought the Tylan Powder online at both Amazon and Lambert Vet Supply. The B12 I have gotten both from my vet and online at CanadaPharmacy.com with a prescription from my vet. Glad to hear that Shelby's poop is firming up some with grain free kibble and enzymes.

If you cannot obtain a script from your vet got to Amazon.com for the Tylan- about $40.00 for a bottle. Search online for a coupon code for free shipping or add an additional product to qualify for free super saver shipping. For B-12, go to B12-shot.com. Cheapest prices online, you can also buy your needles there, not as inexpensive though. BUT... if you have a script from your vet, go to Walgreen's Pharmacy. Sign up for a "W" Card. With the card, for just $35.00 a year, you are able to have 5 family members human or ANIMAL. I have 2 cats, 2 dogs and myself on it. You can be insured, under-insured or no insurance at all. You can change any pet or person on it throughout the year. They will discount all human grade meds and some animal meds too. Usually just a few fills and the card pays for itself. B-12 will run you just $4.00, Metronidazole, 60 pills, $28.00, Amoxy is just a few dollars,a 100 box of 25 gage 3ml needles and syringes was under $30.00. Methimazole, (for thyroid disease) as well insulin pays for itself. This is my favorite pet discount EVER!

you need the tablets with the intristic factor which the injections have
the tummy gurgtling is definitely sibo so tylan is the thing
the tub will last for ages and i mean ages

Hi Sherry..... i get my Tylan from Amazon ..but my girlfriend likes Lambert Vet... i think it might be a few dollars cheaper from there. The tummy rumbling sounds like SIBO still active... so you should continue the Tylan. The B12 injections are the proven way to go especially if Shelby has low B12....we like to recommend the B12 pills (Trinfac or Metagenic that both have the intrinsic factor in them) only after the dog has become stable.... BUT.... in some situations, folks don't want to do the injections for whatever reason, so they use one of these pills.... BUT.... althought these are the only pills that seem to work with EPI dogs.... they do not work on all EPI dogs with B12 issues.... so if you decide to use them.,...it is something you have to "try" with SHelby and watch the results (poo, weight and appetite)... and this is why we suggest the B12 injections first. The fact that you are seeing improved poo once switching to grain free is great news!! Keep up the good work and keep us posted!

-- Olesia, owned by Izzy-45lb SWD, Diagnosed at 1.5 years old - TLI results 1.3, Stable almost 7 yrs! Once stable, was able to reduce enzymes to only 1/2 tsp of Enzymes with each meal, but after almost 4 years of stabilization... had to increase the amount of enzymes to 3/4 teaspoon with each meal. Feed various grain-free kibble+real meat, 6x pancreatin enzymes from EnzymeDiane. I give 1 tsp of coconut oil one day and 1 tsp salmon oil next day, and also give canned sardines packed without salt or canned herring for extra omega oils.

Hello Sherry - Glad to hear you are seeing improvement in both the poop and weight department with Shelby since changing to grain free and adding enzymes. If you do decide to order B12 for shots.... we have been using a 25 gauge x 5/8" needle.... and a 30 ml bottle lasts us about half a year doing weekly 1.2 ml shots for Boss who is about 73 pounds. I have not bought any larger vials of it as I worry about it going bad... it is sensitive to heat/light and sometimes, depending on where obtained from, has a short expiration time frame. If you look under the B12 tab at the top of the forum, it shows the recommended amount for shots according to a dogs body weight range.

I took my prescription for b12 from the vet to our local grocery store that has a pharmacy and does $4 prescriptions. I think Walmart and Target also do $4 prescriptions. The syringes from my vet are 20 cents and then 25 cents at the pharmacy so I just stock up when I go to the vets office. Just a reminder not to toss the syringes in the trash and ask at the pharmacy and vets office about disposal. I collect them in a container at home (now) after reading a post about someone that got stuck while moving trash at work. Save someone the worry and start a container to dispose of the needles safely. Wow Lambert Vet is less than KVvet.com that I have been buying the Tylan from. Shoot.
