2 days ago she was diagnosed.   She is currently in the hospital receiving iv anti's and everything else she needs. She coughed up blood yesterday and they said it was from her lungs.   She was tested yesterday for all secondary conditions and we are waiting for the results.    She will probably come home tomorow and we will start managing this.   I will admit - I have been an absolute mess over this.    I did join a yahoo group on this and am looking into building the Bailey chair for her.

Any and all prayers are welcome...

Oh Michele, My heart is crying for you and with you. I am so sorry to hear this. Stay strong and keep the faith, we are all here for you. I am not familiar with this condition, although I know it means the dog must eat in an upright position. Is this something that is related to the strong antibiotics she was on for so long? Know that you and Jackie are in my prayers. I sending you hugs and the strength to get through this. You are part of this family and we will support you through this. I dont understand why these challenges keep coming your way, but Jackie is in the right place with you, God knows you will give her the help she needs. Hugs Lisa

Michele,  I can't believe you've got yet another challenge on your hands.  I'm so sorry to hear this.  Jackie is very lucky to have you...I know you'll be on top of everything and take good care of her.  It's probably very much like EPI...overwhelming at first, then managable once you get some experience with it.  I really hope the pneumonia clears up quickly.

I'm sending hugs and positive energy to you and Jackie!

Mom to Pixie, 7 year old sheltie, inherited from my mother-in-law 3/11.  Dx of EPI 9/09.  TLI in 10/09 was 0.4 ug/L.  As of 12/2/11, Folate fasting levels was 13.6 ug/L, and Cobalamin fasting was 615.   Current weight 21.7 lbs (4/13), solid member of the Chunky Monkey Club!  Ideal weight around 17, I think, but she's not obese at this weight, so maybe 17 is a little low.  Feeding grain free - Natural Balance canned lamb and Nature's Variety Instinct Limited Ingredient Lamb kibble.  Giving slightly less than 1/2 tsp Pancreatin 8X per 1/2 cup of food.  Tylan currently 1x/day.  Also takes 1/2 tablet pepcid for stomach upset 2x/day.  Primal Defense probiotics 1/8 tsp, 3x/week.  Getting bi-weekly B-12 shots.  Our little pack also includes my husband, our 12 year old sheltie, Lucy, and our 9 year old sheltie, Einstein.
