Im active duty military stationed out of Fort Campbell, KY. I am leaving to go on a 9 month long deployment to Afghanistan. My family is not able to watch my dog for me due to the fact they have no space. My girlfriend is highly allergic and works to much to keep up with the needs of my one year old pup named keira who I recently learned has EPI. She has gained all of her weight back and im trying to pack a little extra on her. It is a very sad and unfortunate situation for me right now. She is an absolute sweet heart but is still very much a puppy. I rescued her from the pound 9 months ago she was starved beaten and full off worms. After bringing her into my home now I have to deploy and if I cannot find her a good FAMILY type enviroment then she will have to be boarded until other arrangments can be made. I do not want to put her threw going back to the kennel. Does anyone that has or had an EPI dog so I know she will be cared for like one of your own, live in Tennessee, Kentucky, or Illinois have to the time space and the heart to take in my baby for just under a year. I would supply all the Enzymes and would send you a monthly stipend to pay for food for the big girl. Thank you for your time. My name is paul.

Hi Paul,

Have you checked into Guardian Angels For Soldiers Pets? Perhaps they can help you out, it's a great organization.

Guardian Angels for Soldier’s Pet” is an all-volunteer, 501c3 nonprofit organization that supports our troops involved in the global war on terrorism by ensuring that the service members does not have to relinquish their pets in order to serve our country during a deployment or hardship situation. They can serve with peace of mind that their pets are being cared for by a loving and responsible foster family.

Olesia, owned by Izzy-45lb SWD, Diagnosed at 1.5 years old - TLI results 1.3, Stable almost 7 yrs! Once stable, was able to reduce enzymes to only 1/2 tsp of Enzymes with each meal, but after almost 4 years of stabilization... had to increase the amount of enzymes to 3/4 teaspoon with each meal. Feed various grain-free kibble+real meat, 6x pancreatin enzymes from EnzymeDiane. I give 1 tsp of coconut oil one day and 1 tsp salmon oil next day, and also give canned sardines packed without salt or canned herring for extra omega oils.

In Feb 2013, Izzy developed a very serious condition called IMHA which she (thankfully) beat and is now in remission. We also discovered that now, at 8 years old, she not only has EPI, but also Diabetes and Low Thyroid.  Izzy was able to receive excellent care because of the kindness of so many here on epi4dogs and  is currently  doing extra-ordinarily well. If anyone could spend a day with Izzy, they would never guess that she has any health problems!

I am about an hour and a half south of there, but my
EPI dog does not get along with other dogs (except for Stella who was already here when I got him as a puppy). Karen G. has e-mailed a former EPI owner in Middle TN who has done fostering in the past to see if she might be available.

Kathy, what a great suggestion. I never heard of this before and as always you are a plethera of information. This is a fantastic organization. I am sure that they can help. This would be a good starting point. So sad that there is no one in the family to take her, sorry to hear that.
