Hi Fiona

Just wanted to say hello and welcome - all belated of course :-) Dexter is so lovely - I'm glad he's doing well. It's not easy at first, is it? But thankfully, with so many wonderful guiding hands here - it only gets easier and then it gets "normal".

Looking forward to more good news and pictures too!

Thanks Fiona. So glad Dexter is doing better and he is in such a caring, loving home.
Our Gach is doing better. I think we got this before he became weaker. The vet actually did not come up with this, I did after finding this site and asked for the EPI blood test. I had the sample packet of enzymes ordered from EnzymeDiane before the test results came back so he was started on the enzyme immediatley. We are still working on getting him stable. He misses his treats so much, but he is so much better. This site is wonderful!
Thanks again for your kind words.

Hello, I been looking at this forum getting lots of good information for a while so thought it was time I introduced myself.
I'm mum to a 2 yr old Rough Coated Lurcher, Dexter, who was diagnosed with EPI at the end of October 2012. He had been ill for nearly 2 months before he was diagnosed, and was overwhelmed with a mixture of devastation and relief that we could at last make things better for him. At his lowest point he lost more than 1/4 of his body weight, was constantly lethargic, and I felt like I was watching him fade away with each day that went by. He has been prescribed Pancreatic Enzymes and got his putting on wait and has his old energy back. His target weight is 20kg and he weighted in at 16.75kg at his 'weight in' today.
On the whole he is maintaining a healthy digestive system, no smelly 'cow pat' poos, but it doesn't take much to upset things (stolen cat food being his favourite), but I'm slowly getting the family into thinking about Dexter and a food safe environment.
We're signed up to a beginners agility course starting in March, which I'm really excited about.
Anyway, I think that's a long enough introduction.
