2 spoiled dogs. Bodhi - a 3-year old German Shepherd/Husky mix and Griswold - a 4-year old Australian Shepherd mix.
Bodhi was adopted June 2015 weighing a very skinny 72 pounds and his tummy has never been quite right. He always seems hungry and has eaten grass, twigs, paper and all sorts of other non-food items whenever he gets the chance so until recently his intermittent chronic vomiting and occasional diarrhea was always blamed on dietary indescretion. We have tried several different types of food, and fed at the recommended guidelines for an 80-100 pound dog.
This spring we have battled a significant worsening of his GI issues, with multiple vet visits since mid-February for vomiting, inappetance and diarrhea. We started Hills z/d March 11. Each time he has improved after steroids and metronidazole but the symptoms have recurred within a few weeks. He dropped to 67 pounds and has not gained any weight back yet. March 1 his superchem, cbc, t4 were WNL. May 11 we started enzymes (Pancreved powder) and tested for EPI, results Folate 16.7, B12 289, TLI 27.3, so not EPI. He has an appointment to start weekly B12 injections Monday and I plan to ask about a longer course of antibiotics. I am so grateful for all I have learned reading through the resources on this site. Hopeful we are headed in the right direction.
