Olesia, I hope this is the right place to ask my question. Lewis has been on Tylan since June 7. I am giving him one packet of Forti Flora a day, opposite the Tylan. Is that OK? Is there a probiotic that is better? Should I be giving it at all at this point?
Thanks, Olesia, and I apologize for calling you Izzy before! Helen
you are welcome:) i'd love to know if it is really the chicken that causes so many problems or if it is how they are raised. i wonder if dogs with chicken issues would have the same reaction to free range or organically raised chickens?
Finally got in. I was doing something wrong. Don't know what but the wife fixed it. I have two wonderful working line GSDs. Thunder (9) Trooper (5)
My older GSD was just diagnosed with EPI Satruday and he's just had two days feeding with the PanaKare and I just gave him his first B12 shot today. I'm a moderator on a working dog forum that has a wonderful lady who is fantastic with nutrition and health issues and probably knows more then most vets. I'm her to learn as much as I can about EPI. After 50+ yrs of never having less then 2-3 dogs at a time this is my first time with a dog that requires on going health care. It's about as nerve wracking as it can get for me. As of today he is 66.6 lb. That's down from 79-80 lbs so I'm looking forward to seeing him healthy again. Thanks for the great site. Bob Scott (Two GSDs)
I switched my 10 year old westie Hope to the Creon 10 capsules. Only costs $1.11 per day vs $10.00 with Partnar powdered enzyme. She has responded well on them, went from 11.2 lbs now at 16 lbs(and on a diet believe it or not). Eating kibble vet's Royal Canin Hypoallergenic with no side affects. Tried grain free but didn't work for her.
ya I understand. the whole thing got pretty crazy, so I'm not involved anymore. I was going to take it down myself, but I'm glad you caught it
I understand about the post
Just want to tell you that I'm so thankful for this site. It is a definite God send. I would love to get more involved. If there is anything I can do please let me know.
Olesia
Just a quick note , i posted a new post about an enzyme Which my vet wanted me to try Aurion Digest-7.are you familiar with it? I am thinking it is not strong enough. If you are not familiar with it i will post measurements in a post. Anja is not doing well with it, I still have a little pancrease v left. back to that. Enzyme Diane is similiar to that i think. i think that is my best bet. Thanks . Wanda
You can use any of his pictures...they are yours if you want :o)
Hi Olesia
Thanks for comment about maezi - she is one special dog for sure - my family and friends honestly dont understand what we have been going thru with her - She means soo much to me. So grateful for this site ! I dont know what I would have done with out it - my vet office really didnt explain alot to me. We go in tomorrow for vaccine and ask about B12. thanx wanda
Hey!! Just posted a couple of pics from "the poop file". Maybe you have some helpful insight. They're in chronological order. When it started, when she got "better", and last one is about 4-5 days old. Last 2 days has been extremely watery.
Thank you!!!
HI Olesia
Hope you & Izzy are doing well just wanted to pop in and say HI as I havent talked to you in awhile. Just recently had another shiny paw order of more shampoo and conditioner as i Love the stuff. Thought I would tell ya this was the 2nd time I have ordered from Shiny Paw and they did not send an EPI Brochure. I am yet to get an original copy from them - thankfully my aunt works at a printing company and we have printed many copies of them and distributed to people at work, Vet offices & health food stores trying to get the word out. Take care for now Alley & Lucy
EPI4DOGS,
Thankyou for your kind words. Vern was the dog of my life and my heart dog. I really am grateful for the time we had together. He picked me...I remember the lady at Second Chance Rescue in Colorado saying THIS is your dog as she pointed to this fat, slobbering mess of a dog with 3 tennis balls in his mouth-growling at me if I even looked at him. I looked at this woman and said Jackie...there's no way-he wont even let me pet him. I dont want a male dog and I came up here (all the way on to this mesa in the middle of nowhere) for that bordercollie cross older dog, NOT THIS! She said Lizzy, trust me, this is what I do and this is your dog. She helped me pick him up-94 pounds at that point very obese, with a box of science diet lite. and he was in the very back of my car. Im the kind of gal who would put him inthe middle seat with a blanket. Not this dog... he had been returned 4 times in a year and I was determined to turn him in too. Took him to town where I was working, little mtn town in CO. and I had had him for all of an hour. Testing his leash manners-which he did have. This homeless man came upto us asking for money and Vern came around to my front and sat on my feet and barely lifted his lip and did this growl that sent the man in the other direction. Then he looked up at me and thumped his tail... That night I called Jackie at the rescue back and said OK I'm bringing your $75 and I love this dog. Thank you! So Vern won me over in a very short time. How Jackie knew-she didnt know me at all...I will never know. Intuition is the best I can say. Vern went along with me to work every day for 6 years...leading trail rides in the mountains. He always trotted along in the front and checked in with me regularly, never ran away, was the perfect dog. It was only in the last year since he slowed down and his body wore out. I have alot of good memories of Vern. He was awesome. Hopefully he can coach Finn, my Entlebucher pup who knew Vern for 10 months, from heaven. Finn was a rescue with a fractured hock at 9 weeks old-totally healed but Vern taught him manners and respect. I will attach pics. Thanks to everyone on this board for their help-I will continue to research this condition as I am about to graduate Vet Technician school and this is way under-diagnosed and very treatable. Lizzy
Hi Olesia, what are the b12 pills that you mentioned that work and where do you get them? Pebbles has such a rise and fall within 5 days that I want to talk to my vet about the pills..... maybe it will keep her more level instead of waiting for the decline all the time...... just a thought..... I think I read they need the intrinsic factor or something? Sorry about the spelling.... going from memory..... the rise and fall of electrlytes from diarrhea and b12 throws back into a tizzy every 4 or 5 days and this will never end .... .... so I want to ask the vet on these. Thanks !
Olesia,
Thank you so much for the article "Staving not Starved." That was a great source of information. I got if from Mary at GreenTripe.com. I really appreciate your experience and willingness to share it. Do you think that I should contact the Texas A&M group doing the study? I got my GSD from friends who bread their two GSD's. Their two GSD's came from a popular breeder in San Jose. I think this would be a good line of history to follow. Threre were 7 in Max's litter and I believe our friends know where everyone of those pups went. Advice? Kim
OLESIA, SORRY, I ASKED YOU ABOUT SOAKING THE FOOD BEFORE I OPENED THE DIET SITE WHICH YOU SENT ME AND NOW MY QUESTIONS ARE ANSWERED. I TAKE ABOUT 1/2-2/3 CUP ROOM TEMP WATER ADD 1 TSP. ENZYMES IN JAR WITH SCREW ON LID AND SHAKE IT UP THEN ADD TO SUGAR'S GOURMET MIXTURE. I DIDN'T KNOW THE CHICKEN WASN'T SUPPOSE TO BE COLD RIGHT FROM THE FRIDGE SO I WILL CHANGE MY PROCEDURE WITH THE MASHED VEGEES TOO. THANKS AGAIN. YOU SWD IS A CUTIE AND YOU HAVE 3 OF THEM? I WILL LOOK THE BREED UP IN MY DOG BOOK TO LEARN MORE ABOUT THEM. LZZY DOESN'T LOOK LIKE SHE WEIGHS 45 POUNDS (I THINK THAT'S WHAT YOU SAID) I ASSUME THEY LOVE TO SWIM TOO?
SUGAR ACTUALLY ONLY LIKES TO SWIM AND DIVE INTO SWIMMING POOLS WHICH IS WHAT TYPE OF LIFE SHE HAD BEFORE I ADOPTED HER AT 6 YEARS OLD. IN MY OPINION HER LIFE NOW IS BETTER AS SHE DOESN'T HAVE TO COMPETE WITH 6 OTHER PWD FOR A TUMMY RUB :-}. SHE WILL SWIM BUT USUALLY ONLY IF SHE KNOWS I HAVE TREATS. SHE WAS A SHOW DOG IN HER FORMER LIFE AND MADE IT ON THE FRONT PAGE OF THE 2001 PWD CALENDAR AND WON BEST OF BREED IN SAN FRANCISCO IN 2001. SHE IS ONE SPECIAL SNUGGLE LOVE BUG AND DOESN'T BARK AT ALL. MY OTHER PWD ''JENAMAE'' WHO LIVED TO BE 15 YEARS 3 MONTHS WAS A BARKER......PROBABLY BECAUSE I RAISED HER AND SMOTHERED HER WITH TOO MUCH ATTENTION :-}}} |
