About Me
Sailin Suzie and I live on a sailboat in Long Beach, Ca. She was diagnosed in 2006. TLI 1.4. And with SIBO. We had a hard time of it, as most do. Tried most everything. Took 7 months to get her stable and eating. She dropped from 11lbs. to 8lbs. I had to resort to syringe feeding her for a while to keep her alive. Not pretty. She is strong and healthy now and weighs a chubby 12lbs. Most days we sail, boat ride in HER dinghy, bark at seals and seagulls. She is the most popular person in the Marina. Everyone knows Sailin Suzie. Many friends come by to take her kayaking, jet skiing and boat riding. She is the happiest dog I know. Hi hon,
Thanks for the comment but I fear if we were not worlds apart we would start a flaming revolution, eh? One day my forthright manner will get me into trouble... HA! You should read the e-mails I send to our government... many get printed in the local paper too so I don't think I have made many friends amongst our politicians. I so wish we could get out of the European Union it is costing us billions and all our culture and liberties are being taken away... so sad. Val
Hi there,
I can see you you are boat people. I thought I would tell you we lived a life on the water over quite a few years - another lifetime ago - back in the Nine'ties - we ended up sailing our boat around the world - met a lot of great people- including some great people from USA - we still keep in touch - one lot from Florida- the other from Seattlle - after sailing, our Seattle friends used to have Labs with them for a year that were going to become seeing eye dogs. thanks for all your positive comments re Rags - it is a thorny path that we are leading with our doggie family - but, worth it. as we always said to all our sailing mates the world over - may the Wind favour you - cheers Marion -
Hi Brenda & Suzie
My name is Fiona and I am from Livingston (near Edinburgh) in Scotland. I think Lypex capsules are fairly new to the market and are really easy to use, but if we dont get a good result we will have to use the power (which I have been told smells like vomit!). Wallace is tolerating the Lypex at the moment but our vet said it tastes disgusting and he may reject this in the future. So far so good, only three stools today and fairly normal (based on three meals with Lypex). Wallace is on antibiotics for SIBO and a vitamin supplement. Your Suzie looks so good, filled out fit and healthy. Here's hope for my Wullie Wallace.! Thanks for your advice and support - its much appreciated as at the moment I am anxious and emotional! Kind regards Fiona & Wallace
Brenda - I have to tell you how impressed I am with Sailin Suzie! I so love dachshunds (I have had three during my life) and your Suzie is really special. It is obvious that even with having to deal with EPI she is a real joy.
My EPI dog is half Greater Swiss Mountain Dog and half Border Collie - 3 years old. Very smart, too. I also have a geriatric miniature dachshund. Louie is 14 years old, nearly deaf, going blind, but still enjoys quality of life when it comes to food and taking naps in the sunshine. He will even get playful with Milo once in a while. Dachshunds are remarkable dogs -- stubborn, tenacious, and totally fearless. But you already know that. Your Suzie is not only talented, she is beautiful! |
