About Me

I've own 3 westies, Kenzo (almost 5yr), Madison (2yr) and Olivia (2 months)

Maddie was diagnosed with EPI in November 2009. She lost 5,5 pounds, but she is stable now.

Here, the vets do not know much about the disease and so far we can not take the TLI exam. She is taking CREON 25, manipulated in pharmacy. Although much improved, is not 100% yet.

She is eating 6 times a day, rice, chicken and vegetables with a teaspoon of enzymes. I do not know if it is the correct diet, but would like to read more about homemade diets for this disease.

So if anyone could help me I'll appreciate it.

Sorry I didn't answer you sooner. I feed Taya Science Diet Prescription canned ID Canine. She get three feedings a day.
7:00 AM, 12:00 PM & 6:00 PM. 4oz at each feeding and 1/2 tsp. of PanaKare Plus Enzyme. I mix it and let it stand 15 minutes
before I let her eat. She was down to 8 lbs last August and now she is 16lbs. 9oz.. She also gets 90 IU of Liquid Vit. E on her 7:00 AM feeding. Taya turned two on 3/17/2010. She has so much energy and is so happy now that we have her stable.

Hope Maddie is doing well and I will check my site more often or you can email me at kathlyn1945@yahoo.com.

Hi Melissa,
I don't think we ever stop worrying about them but all you can do is to monitor her weight and poops...poops tell you much about how she is digesting her food. It is difficult in the beginning but after a while it becomes a way of life and gets much easier.

Don't forget if there's anything you are worried about or want to ask questions, we are all here for you. We've all been where you are now, so we understand how you feel.

And if there's anything technical you want translating, please let me know and my friend will certainly help out.

Take care and hugs to your babies.

Welcome Melissa. You have your hands full with three Westies but you sound like you can handle it. I am so sorry to hear about little Maddie. Taya is doing just great she now is 16pounds 5 oz. Thank heavens we found two caring vets who have saved her life.
If you have any ? don't hesitate to ask. I will share all her health info with you.

Hi Melissa,
You have three!! Oh my goodness hahaha.
I think Westies believe they are Rottweilers in white fur coats!!! They have the courage of a lion.
I am sorry to hear you have a westie with EPI, but I am so glad you found this forum where I hope you have gained some good advice and support. I know I was so thankful to find them. How is your little one getting on?
Chloe has Cushings Disease, which is an adrenal gland problem....she has had it since she was 6 and she is now 12 and still going strong....someone really should tell her she is an old girl now!!!
I am so happy you have found us, do keep in touch.
By the way, your English is wonderful so don't worry at all.
Sorry for my ignorance but do you speak Portuguese, as I have a Portuguese friend who has Brazilian friends who speak the same...so if you have any problems translating anything into English, you can send me it and I will get it translated into English for you... but somehow I don't think you will need it.
Take care Melissa and hope to hear from you soon.
