Hey, It's Carlo, we got the results back and they said he doesn't have EPI, he has a B - 12 deficiency and we have to go get the results by this weekend sometime, because we have to go there for his first B-12 shoot, that he has to get every week for 6 weeks. My mom wants to still feed him the no grain food, can anyone suggest a good brand for us, because Purina only has up a 23 pound bag and it is 38.00$. They also are going to be giving him prednisone, I guess to bulk him up. That's all they really told us and said if this don't he needs to go to an Internal Medicine Specialist, and that would cost a lot of money. Do you or anyone you know on here know if the B-12 problem would cause this. Can anyone give me some questions that I should ask when I take him to The Vet. I'm the one who takes him to the vet every time. I would think the Doctor was trying to get more money out of us, but he is doing all the shots and for free. HE said he is doing everything to try to save us money and not have to go to a specialist. I'll find out more when I go and I could post the numbers, the nurses said we wouldn't understand them, but I know a lot of you will be able too. I will get back to you after I go, and like I said if anyone can give any advice on what they know about this B-12 problem and the prednisone, which is a good no grain dog food and anything I should ask. Thank you all very much for help so far and your concern, I hope this helps Nico.

Hey Barb thanks for excepting my friend request, and it's also nice to have meet someone on here who understands South Philly people, as you its like no other place in the world. I have a question how long did it take for you to get your first blood work that tested for the EPI, because Wednesday will one week since they took blood. Every time call there they tell me the Vet will call me back, but I haven't heard from him yet. you may of heard of him, he is supposed to be very good, his name is Dr. Rebecci, at Phila. Animal Hospital. Nico has been going to him since we first got him at 8 weeks and now he is 17 months and this is the first time he even suggested this. we know for sure it's not a food problem, because that is what they been testing him for up until now. So I think for sure it is the EPI, at first they told they never seen anything like this, until we told them and he said that is the test I'm waiting for to come back. by dumb luck we hadn't feed him for over 12 overs before he went or it wouldn't of even worked, he never told us to fast him. He is supposed to be one the best Vet's around here. Anyway just wanted to know how long it takes to find out, after the blood was sent out and just get things off my mind. Thank you.

Hi Barb,
How old is Kolby now? Orion is our 3rd GSD and I had no idea there were so many animals this condition. Our other 2 GSD dogs lived to be 11 plus years and 12 plus years. This has been a real eye opener.
