About Me

Hello,

My Maisie (Sheltie, 5 yrs old) was diagnosed with EPI in 2009.  At the vet's suggestion we feed Medi-Cal Prescription Diet kibble and add 1/2 tsp enzyme Diane enzymes.

Maisie has been stable since we started the enzymes, except for a recurring infection/allergy thing (undiagnosed--vet can't figure out what it is...$600.00 later...).

We recently welcomed a new puppy (miniature daschund) into our home.  I felt that Maisie needed companionship and they are both adjusting well.  The puppy (Geoffrey) has been fed raw by the breeder and we continue to feed him raw (Nature's Variety Instinct Raw (frozen chicken patties).

Maybe I'm just asking for trouble but I'm wondering about trying Maisie on some raw food.  I've read that some EPI dogs do well on raw in combination with dry plus enzymes.  If so, do I need to grind the raw meat?  I'm sure that people will wonder why I would want to tamper with her diet if she's doing okay--my reasoning is that I know she just tolerates her food--she doesn't like it, and she's always looking for something to eat--her quality of life is important to me--I see this puppy relishing this raw diet and wonder if Maisie could be as happy and content.

I would appreciate hearing from anywone who's gone from dry to raw, or just opinions are ok too!  :)

thank you,

Sheri and Maisie and Geoffrey
