About Me

My name is Tracey. I live with my Shiloh shepherds, Sofie, diagnosed with EPI April 2011, Bogart non-EPI puppy, and Kismet the "mean" kitty. Sofie is responding to treatment pretty well but this site is a great place to come and refresh your memory on information, to ask a question...or just for moral support:)

Dear Tracy,
Hi! Thank you for the poem. It made me cry... lol, I heard said, "Heaven wouldn't exactly be heaven without dogs." Best regards, Jeanie

Hi. I hope it is ok to talk to you as I just found this web site today. I was wondering about your message about the "bridge" I never heard that express before and wondered what it means. Best regards, Jeanie

Hi Tracy and Sofie, we are just stopping by to say hello! You really got swamped with snow! We are enjoying the snow here too! I'm hoping that we can get together to discuss doing some fun stuff for epi4dogs! Keep warm, Teresa and Q

It only dawned on me that Sofie's problem might be chicken because many people on here had mentioned issues with it so I thought why not try cutting out chicken and see what happens. Since that happened shortly after I got Bogart he doesn't get any chicken either - just figured why risk her getting it or having to feed different food. He gets exactly what Sofie gets except with no enzymes:)

I think lots of our meat has stuff in it that we shouldn't eat - if I lived somewhere I could raise my own meat I would. I wonder if the increase in EPI reporting across the board has something to do with this? and things like autism in kids and cancers in all beings...gotta wonder.

Tracey, Funny that you should mention this.... my eldest, Rico, i thought was allergic to chicken also... took me almost 2 years to figure it out.. and then about 3 years after stopping the chicken with him... i gave him some free range chicken, no antibiotics, no hormones, or anything....and he was fine......of course i have not been as diligent with my Lulu *sigh* since Lulu stays upstairs with me with Izzy and Izzy doesn't have a problem with any chicken... so i have not been diligent (Rico pretty much lives downstairs now with my mom who lives with us.... she has an apartment on the first floor...

tracey, thanks for posting SOphie's allergy signs... those are the exact same signs my non-EPI dog displays... i know part of it is environmental (spring and fall/and struggles when grass is wet outside) but i am going to try and remove ALL chicken from her meals... maybe that is also contributing!

HI Tracey and welcome to you and Sophie,

That is heartbreaking to hear about Lucy?In order to participate in the forum, you should go to the forum tab, start a new topic and introduce yourself and Sophie. We have nearly 700 members and some other Shiloh Shepherds as well. Ask any questions you want, as there is almost always someone who can answer you.

When you say there is an enzyme shortage, could you elaborate a bit more? We also have an Enzyme Angel amongst us who purchases enzymes in bulk and repackages and sells them to us for about 1/3 of the price of prescription enzymes and she does ship to Canada, so this might help!!!
