Hi Patty~
Thank you for that wonderful testimonial... EPI is very scary and very overwhelming when one first learns about it..... i just know your testimonial will be a comfort to many. Again, thanks!
Hi Barb,
He is a handsome fella. I didn't realize this was so rare. Now I want to know what caused it. I've read vaccines, flea and tick products, heartworm products. Mind boggling. I going to purchase some coconut and samon oil and see how it goes. I am very hopeful now with Orions progress. I couldn't imagine having him not thrive and losing him at such a young age. Thanks Patty
Hi Patty,
Kolby is going to be 3 on April 14. He was diagnosed right around his first birthday, but was showing signs before. I must admit I had never heard of EPI before that. Our other German Shepherd lived to be almost 13. He had quite a few issues, but manageable, until he got Degenerative myelopathy. When I joined the forum they were just about to hit the 300 mark in members and that was only two years ago in May. I think we have almost tripled that now....(823 members). Reading these posts, it seems like EPI is everywhere....but it is still relatively rare. You are doing a fine job with Orion. It does get easier with time. Barb
Hi,
My name is Patty and my GDS was diagnosed with EPI October of 2011 when he was around 8 1/2 months old. He weighed 54 lbs and is up to 56 now. He is not gaining weight like I feel he should. I have been reading a lot of information and I know it can be tricky to get the right dose of enzymes and food ratio. I have been struggling . The Vet prescribed Pancreved 425mg 3 tabs per meal. At first he could not tolerate that dosage (terrible diarrhea) but we have it under control and hae him back up to 3 tabs per 2 cups of food 3 times a day. His stool is good nd he is having more energy. I have been reading about Vit-B12, Bromelain and I'm not sure how much Bromelain to give and when. Also with the vit-b-2, can I give a tab or capsule verses injection and how much. Any info would be great. I can't wait to hear from all of you. I must get back to work for now. Oh by the way, I also in read about a Enzyme co-op to get it cheaper. Any news on that would be great. Thanks Patty
