You may want to try crushing them and adding a little water...doesn't need to be much water and you most likely will be able to cut back on the number of tablets and may start to see some weight gain. If poops are good (meaning formed and firm) it's the right direction but something is preventing the weight gain. To give you an example: our dogs get 2 cups of kibble plus about 4 oz of cooked ground turkey meat per meal and we use 4 tablets. Pharaoh has gone from a low of 62 lbs. up to a high of 85.1 (he's down a lb. since we cut back his food) and Taiko went from about 70 lbs. to 87 (also has lost a couple of lbs. since we cut back on food). At one time we were feeding 4 meals a day and are down to 2 meals. I have found, for instance, that the 4 tablets crushed equal less than 1 tsp. so the amount of powdery enzymes in the food is not much (compared to using powdered enzymes) so it's never been an issue with our dogs. We also sometimes use canned food with the kibble if out of the turkey meat or for variation. What is your goal weight?

Hi Nadine,
Our pups are on PancrePlus tablets. We buy them through the vet but I had her order us the 500 tablet bottle as it was quite a savings (almost like getting 200 tablets free over getting 100 at a time). We pay about $107 (including tax) for 500 tablets. Our pups have done great on them. We crush them, add them with some water to the food and let sit for 18 minutes or so. Both weigh more than they ever have. Which tablets are you using and do you get them through your vet? Cost? Not a lot of people use tablets, but I believe with the right ratio of food to tablet pups can do well. Terry |
