Re: Newly Diagnosed Corgi w/EPI - Suggestions?
Hi Bri Please ask your vet to email you the results of the cbc. Did they do a chemistry panel. It is the chemistry panel that would look at kidney function, liver function, the pancreas and electrolytes. It is always a good idea to get a copy of any blood work and results so if you are ever have an ...

Re: Newly Diagnosed Corgi w/EPI - Suggestions?
Hi Bri A cbc and chemistry panel will let you know if there is an infection, if she is anemic, kidney and liver function, pancreatitis, etc. It gives a overall a picture of what is going on and is usually the first step when a dog has had bloody diarrhea for a period of time. The medications your ve...

Re: Newly Diagnosed Corgi w/EPI - Suggestions?
Hi Bri I'm sorry Opal is doing poorly. Are you giving the prednisone with food? It has to be given with food or it will cause GI issues including bleeds. What dose is she on? I'm guessing 5mg or 10mg twice a day which is a normal anti inflammatory dose. Prednisone makes them hungry so I am not surpr...

Re: Newly Diagnosed Corgi w/EPI - Suggestions?
Hi Hope Opal is feeling better. I would get a full blood panel done (cbc and chemistry) and possibly a resting cortisol if you have not started the prednisone (it makes the resting cortisol inaccurate). My EPI and Addisonian corgi presented with similar symptoms as Opal. First he was diagnosed with ...

Re: Vaccinations and Flea control for EPI dogs
Hi. Vaccinations have never been an issue for Nate who has EPI and Typical Addison's disease. I do spread them out and only give 1 at a time. He gets the core vaccines and rabies every 3 years and lepto 4 yearly because of where we live. I don't use oral flea medicines because of his history of seiz...

Re: Putting enzymes in capsules
Hi
I import Chemeyes pancreatic enzyme capsule from the UK to the US (and Colombia when I am there). My EPI corgi eats 3 meals a day (1/4 cup am, 1/2 lunch, 1/4 cup pm) and I use 1 capsule per 1/4 cup. They have worked for us for 3 years now. Nate refuses to eat anything with enzymes on it.

Re: Need some advice
Hi Linda It took about 2 weeks for my vet and I to notice the pills were not working. My vet calls in a script for a 30ml vial of hydroxocobalamin (made by Watson) to CVS. It costs about $40. I give the shots at home SQ. I can always tell when he needs a shot, he loses that corgi spunk Normally you ...

Re: Need some advice
Hi Linda I have 2 corgis, one with EPI and one without, they are both blowing their undercoats. Nate's EPI has been stable for a few years so I'm guessing the shedding you are seeing is just normal corgi shedding. Nate is one of the dogs Olesia mentioned that don't do well on oral B12, he gets a wee...
