Re: Coat Staining?

So we have our answer… Philip is positive for Lyme. Starting treatment today and hopefully will soon see the resolution of both the lameness and coat staining from licking of joints.

Re: Coat Staining?

Have not tried wiping with peroxide or vinegar. Our breed tends to have sensitive skin and would not want to use anything harsh on a repetitive basis. When initially discussing this with the vet we all agreed the medicated shampoo approach would help eliminate superficial bacteria/yeast/allergens an...

Re: Coat Staining?

Vet appointment this week to discuss. Probably not yeast as the discoloration has not resolved after a month of serial bathing with medicated shampoo. I do believe the staining is due to repetitive licking shortly after meals and need to figure out if there is an underlying issue (like pain). Thank ...

Re: Coat Staining?

Hi Olesia. Yes I am thinking perhaps he ‘cleans himself’ shortly after meals when there is still enzyme residue in his mouth.

Coat Staining?

Our boy has recently developed brownish staining on the inside of his back legs legs and hocks. It is similar to the permanent staining around his mouth so wondering if this too is a result of enzymes. Has anyone experienced this type of staining with a lighter-coloured EPI dog?

Re-testing TLI

Interested in thoughts on re-testing TLI. Results at diagnosis on 11/8/21 as follows: TLI 2.2 ng/mL (ref 5.0-35) B12 328 pmol/L (ref 209-617) Folate 43 nmol/L (ref 7-39) My boy has responded very well to treatment and is back at a normal weight. He is due for vaccinations and regular bloodwork soon....

Re: Folate Question

Ok, so I have ordered the Wonderlabs B12 and have decided to increase food by adding a 4th small (half cup) kibble meal at lunch. My boy still has not gained any weight in the month since starting enzymes. Will next look at adding MCT oil if the food increase goes well. Can I give the B12 and MCT oi...

Re: Folate Question

Thank you for your reply! Yes, with the next food increase we will be at about 150%.

Will start coconut oil - great tip - do I add that with the enzymes before incubating, or just before feeding?

Thanks again,
Karen
