Re: Seeking info re Pomeranians or small dog regime
Hi. We stopped Zack’s Tylan over a month now and haven’t seen any adverse effects on his stool. He didn’t want it in his food, nor with pill pockets and he is too small for capsules. Weight stable. The only adverse event now is small spit ups, ie gastric reflex and big burps after he eats (he eats h...

Re: Seeking info re Pomeranians or small dog regime
Hello Anyone have a dog that does not tolerate the Tylan. Zack gets a pinch twice a day but we are thinking that some of his spit ups are related to the Tylan. He also doesn’t go for his food if we put Tylan in it so we have been adding it to his homemade treats. Can’t say there is a direct relation...

Re: Seeking info re Pomeranians or small dog regime
Thanks again everyone for the feedback. Its so hard to know whether Zack has a real issue or is just having a 'down' day just like us humans have sometimes. Anyway. He is back to eating the majority of his food, I have resorted to hiding his meds in small bits of peanut butter -- I give it just befo...

Re: Seeking info re Pomeranians or small dog regime
thanks everyone for the replies. Zack is pretty smart when it comes to 'knowing' we have put medicine additives in his food, and has never reposed to use of pill packs or hiding capsule in food such as peanut butter or cream cheese. Last night we tried giving him his Gabapentin powder mixing with a ...

Re: Seeking info re Pomeranians or small dog regime
Zack Update - 3/7/19 Zack had a dental cleaning last week, without any ill effects to his EPI regime. He does have lots of energy and most days gets an hour of outside walking, etc. While at the vets, we had his EPI tests, chemistries and LFTs rechecked. His chemistries and LFTs are within normal r...

Re: wet or dry food?
My Pom Zack is on wet food. Prior to his EPI diagnosis he was on kibble free feeding, with small amount of wet food for his liquid phenobarbital dose due to his history of seizures. But we found it easier to totally switch to wet food feedings after his diagnosis. It was easier than having to soak k...

Re: Seeking info re Pomeranians or small dog regime
Zack update The little guy is doing fine. His loss of appetite has disappeared and he cleans his bowl. We tapered his Omeprazole to every other day but he is again spitting up gastric contents twice a day so we’ve gone back to a daily dose. We tried increasing his feedings to four tablespoons but th...

Re: Seeking info re Pomeranians or small dog regime
Nice to hear from another Pom owner. Zack has been doing fine but over the last two days he hasn’t been as interested in eating and today his poops were a little less normal than they have been. Only changes we have made have been starting to wean him from his Omeprazole, going down to every other d...

Re: Seeking info re Pomeranians or small dog regime
Update. Not only did we review Zack’s status last week at which time he had an ultrasound as his gastric reflux continued despite a trial of an anti-emetic and then slippery elm. Tests were normal. Started on Omeprazole, and was able to get compounded liquid. Within 2 days things improved dramatical...

Re: Seeking info re Pomeranians or small dog regime
Thanks for the input. Regarding regurgitation. There seems to be a slight improvement. But hoping for complete decrease. He essentially is on the same prescription diet can food wise that he was getting when free feeding kibble. Fortunately he doesn't have frequent seizures, one last June when he wa...
