Re: Sick after giving powdered pancreas

Hello and welcome. May I ask what type of dog you have and how much you are feeding at a time? May I also ask how you are preparing the enzymes and food. Are you allowing the enzymes and food to “incubate”? Are you moistening the food to mix the enzymes into? You say you are feeding meat, does that ...

Re: New Diagnosis - Chihuahua

Hello and welcome. Thank you for stepping up and caring for this pup. My Butterbean dropped to below 4#’s at her worst, so I know exactly how you are feeling right now. First, make sure that the amount of enzymes given are in exact relation to the amount of food. 1/4 cup of food should have a 1/4 ts...

Re: Saying Goodbye

Oh I am so very sorry..... You have done everything that was humanly possible. Please believe that. I know the pain and second guessing you’re doing right now. I really do. I also know that your pup only knows the love you give. So give all the love you can for the time you have. Hugs to you.... Susan

Re: New member Peanut the Havanese

If he's eating, that's half the battle, as a lot of dogs don't like to eat with the enzymes in their food. Stay with it for now, but understand it might not be the best food for the long run. For now, adjust the enzymes and see if you don't see an improvement. One thing that worked for us when we fe...

Re: New member Peanut the Havanese

Hello and welcome!!! The amount of enzyme is directly proportionate to the amount of food. The Viokase is a 1 tsp per 1 cup dry food and 3/4 tsp per cup of canned or wet. If Peanut was eating a good solid kibble with 4% or less fiber, go back to it and add the appropriate amount of enzyme. Add enoug...

Hey Frank!!! I too remember you and Ayasha!! This year will be three years since we lost Butter as well. We just can't seem to leave though!! So nice to hear from you again, and it makes me feel good that you're "lurking". Just knowing you're around is reassuring. Your words are comfort to the new f...

Re: Newly diagnosed Pug

Hello and welcome. The first thing that jumps out at me is the dosage of enzymes. Enzymes should be given according to the amount of food. The general starting amount is one tsp enzymes to one cup of food. Everyone else has given you great information. Butter had elevated liver numbers at time of di...

Re: Seeking info re Pomeranians or small dog regime

Excellent decision to wait for a week before making any changes. That's exactly what we advise folks to do. The regurgitation could possibly be a bout of Sid/sibo, but I urge you to read, under that heading, about using slippery elm powder. It has worked wonders for just that occurrence for not only...
