Re: Enzymes!

Hi Anika, and welcome! Most of us buy 6X enzymes, because the ratio is 1 teaspoon to 1 cup of food, and that's super easy to remember. Someone else will answer your question about the soft stools, but off the top of my head I would ask, are you giving slippery elm or tylan, either of which may be in...

Re: Diagnosed with EPI today - Mouse

Jill__Thank you. What is the formula, again, for initial feeding for weight gain? Is it 1 1/2 times what you would feed if they were at their ideal weight? I don't know why I've forgotten this. --P

Re: Slimy regurgitation with white foam and some food after drinking water

It does seem that many EPI dogs take B12. Have you had her levels tested? Wonderlabs B12 with intrinsic factor is easy to find. Tucker, 65 pounds, takes one capsule per day. I'm not sure how much you would give to Bella. I give my 10 pound maltipoo about 1/4 cpasule/day. She has tummy issues, not EP...

Re: Diagnosed with EPI today - Mouse

WAIT!!! The AMOUNT of food should be more than what you should feed a 5 pound chihuahua. I can't find the formula, but I believe you feed the amount for one that weighs 12 pounds (her ideal weight) plus 50% more. That sounds like too much, and I'm not sure. I can't find it. Can somebody please post ...

Re: Peaches Journey

I'm sorry. I thought you wanted to do raw...I completely misunderstood. I have tried, during the process, to get Tucker more real meat, but at this point he mostly gets kibble, bone broth, and the occasional cooked meat. I feed at 6 am and 430 pm, tylosin at each meal, and that seems fine. Close eno...

Re: Diagnosed with EPI today - Mouse

Oh my goodness, Masha, you are an angel! I wonder, with such a small amount of enzymes, could you put them in a capsule & give it that way? Will he drink broth? If so, you could stir them into room temperature broth & have him drink it right before he eats (not ideal, but probably better than nothin...

Re: New Member First Post

Hey Tig. Yep, it's an antibiotic, but as I have learned here, it somehow doesn't kill off the bad bacteria in the doggy's gut. I wasn't sure if you had a vet who was open to suggestions, but if you do, and if the slippery elm isn't working, maybe ask for it. Like I said, I tried slippery elm, withou...

Re: New Member First Post

Hi Tig, it's Pam, in Florida. My Tucker was diagnosed with EPI, but more casually than most others on this site, just by my vet & followed with a stool test. He has responded well to treatment, but better since I got the help of this forum, with all its knowledgeable people. I'm saying this so you k...

Re: Yeasty Ears

Thank you, that's good to know. Poor baby rubs his head on the floor & moans. I will continue palliative care until the meds get here. I really appreciate the non-EPI help.---P
