Re: New to this EPI and feeling crazy

Hello and welcome! It seems like most of your questions were well answered. Most people on the forum use powder and tablets are a bit different. We have had 3 Shiloh Shepherds over the years with EPI (all related) and one without. We've always used tablets as that is what our vet had and we had such...

Re: Older Shiloh Shepherd

Hello and Welcome! Glad to hear all has gone well for so many years. Have you had a vet take a look lately? Sometimes we think everything is related to EPI and these pups still get many other conditions. Fecal incontinence is not a normal symptom of EPI....if it is so liquid that may be why the inco...

Re: B-12

I know the testing can be expensive but if you can swing it I would recommend doing the B12 testing. On one hand if they get too much B12 they pee it out...but even if you are supplementing it could still be too low. Don't know about the brittle nails being a side effect. We give the shots weekly so...

Re: Newly diagnosed and don't know where to start...

Welcome! I can understand how worried you are. After you have talked to Jean can you give us an update and let us know how you are doing? As many have said, it's finding the right balance. Some vets know more than others about treating EPI and often members' experiences and knowledge can supplement ...

Re: Pain Meds and EPI

I am so sorry to hear of your diagnosis. We have used pain meds (Tramadol mostly) with 2 of our dogs (one passed over the Rainbow Bridge in April) and we give it right after breakfast and before bed. Just our schedule. Don't think giving it with the meal would be an issue. We use pill pockets with P...

Re: Enzyme, how much should i give?

Hello and Welcome! This is not going to be a straightforward answer for a couple of reasons. Most of us are used to using kibble and/or canned food and using cups in terms of measurement and then powder or tablet in a ratio. With a home cooked meal it's harder to know. But I'll give you my experienc...

Re: New Non EPI Member of the Family

Welcome! We thought we had a non-EPI dog along with our 2 that had it (one passed away at age 12 1/2 not related to EPI in April)and all 3 dogs went back and forth eating out of each other's bowls...and we didn't stress about it and it all seemed to work out fine. In January we found out the 3rd pup...

Re: Saying Goodbye

I am so so sorry to read this. You did everything you could and all you can do is love, love, love your pup! It is very difficult to say goodbye to our fur babies. We lost Taiko in April at age 12 1/2 and even that seemed too short of a time. Taiko had EPI but it was controlled and she died of other...

Re: PancrePlus Tablets. How many?

Hello! We have been using PancreaPlus tablets since the beginning of our dogs' diagnosis (9 years and counting). We have found that 1 tablet per cup plus one for the bowl (so 3 tabs for 2 cups food) is a good starting point....however as dogs age they need more enzymes (whether tablet or powder) so ...

Re: Looking to Re-home

He is beautiful. Looks like he is doing well. Are you using EnzymeDiane's enzymes. They are generic powder and costs quite a bit less than what you get through your vet....and effective. Many dogs here are on her enzymes. Would help with the financial strain and possibly help with the re-home if peo...
