Re: Home cooking

This maybe useful to people, but I would stress that if your pet has urinary or kidney issues, seek your vet’s advice. A lower meat protein diet may be better. Or liver disease. I have two small dogs, one about 10 lbs the other about 14 . Not epi, but recipe the same. I used to do raw and minced food...

Re: Natural oils and treats

Youve lived with epi since 2016, so what had been done regarding B12 levels, which nosedives as the pancreas atrophies, and can’t produce Intrinsic Factor to process B12. My dog , before the B12 injections was a nervous wreck, and unable to even regulate her body clock. After a day on her B12 course...

Re: Natural oils and treats

Hello from Yorkshire, glad to hear you are keeping things under control, it’s not easy. Any people here have dogs with an itching problem, but mine had blisters that went raw. She had steroids and antibiotics. How does the dermatitis present itself? What part of the body, is it inflamed or raw? As y...

Re: Enzymes-My pup smells awful!

Canned tuna beware.......in the uk it comes in many guises..........sunflower or olive oil, brine, and spring water. And now without any liquid.
The first two may mess up your fats/oils ratio in your meal, brine is too salty, so go for spring water. I used some tuna as a tempting topper anyway.

Re: Just been diagnosed with EPI :(

The slippery elm tab on the drop down menu gives the usage. Remember to convert lbs to Kgs., and when to add to food. Dogs on tablets for sibo etc should have them well before the slippery elm, because it may prevent the medicine being absorbed through the slimy coating if makes. I used it Successfu...

Re: Just been diagnosed with EPI :(

Some people suggest that you don’t use probiotics/prebiotics at first, because they confuse the first responses to enzymes etc, as they can cause diarrhoea. Go with antibiotics.
My mantra is Be patient, Keep it simple.

Re: Just been diagnosed with EPI :(

Some people wipe the dogs mouth afterwards, or make sure they have a drink of water, or squirt water into their mouth with a turkey baster after feeding.

Re: Just been diagnosed with EPI :(

Are you still trying Forthglade grain free? Has it still got loads of whole peas in it? A lot of us found peas were a problem, even with healthy dogs. Last year I tried it with non epi fusspot, and picked 20 hard whole peas out of a full tray. I complained to them, but they wanted the batch number e...
