Re: Switching to Generic Enzymes
IMHO it doesn't matter if you change food or enzymes first. Depends on what you have most of . Food or enzymes. Only one change at a time, so if something goes wrong, it's easy to pinpoint what. If you are changing from one kibble to another, make a gradual change. A little if new with mostly old. A...

Re: Tylosin...other options
Ooh. The pet pharmacist is listed as a Canadian option. That is where my vet got it from! So it has to be the "good one" I was giving. Ok. Some options there. Tetracycline and amoxicillin. If these are listed as viable options, presumably these also work by inhibiting bacteria rather than ...

Re: Tylosin...other options
Slippery elm is something I always have on hand. But not something I have ever given regularly. I have kinda just given a dose (between meals) when needed. I didn't know it was used to prevent SIBO.? I thought it was more a fiber used to help with either loose stools or constipation. If it helps kee...

Re: Tylosin...other options
Either way, if a dog doesn't tolerate it well, are there no other options; other than metro? I know Metro isn't a great option. And I have already learned that at least the 400mg capsules (2x daily) did nothing at preventing a very bad infection. And the high dose....the cure is worse than the disea...

Re: Switching to Generic Enzymes
When I switched, I just did an abrupt change. I had changed from Pantenex to Enzyme Diane 8x. I had no issues at all with the change. The next change I did was to Creon. Since that's a completely different type of enzyme, abrupt change was the only thing that made sense. It took some playing around ...

Re: Bali’s story: We need healing vibes and support
I noticed the BUN, but there's hundreds of things that will affect that! Quite often it's nothing serious. Occasionally it's a warning sign that something is changing. Sometimes it's minor dehydration, which causes the kidney values to appear slightly higher. Since the creatinine is high range norma...

Re: Bali’s story: We need healing vibes and support
Those blood results look pretty darn good! So that's great. No signs of bad infection. Not even seeing signs that would possibly point to severe IBD. That increases the EPI theory. (Does not rule out IBD, obviously). Personally, I don't think any prescription diet is right. :D But I won't open that ...

Re: Bali’s story: We need healing vibes and support
I'd say do one change at a time. So stay on the kibble you are on for now. With a lower enzyme dose than you were on. See how things are tomorrow. If the poop is more solid, then enzymes are helping. Over the coming days, you'll find out if this food is better than the homemade turkey etc food you h...

Re: Bali’s story: We need healing vibes and support
Oh good! Glad you are getting a TLI done!! You are right. Fasting needs to be done. So no food or enzymes tonight. Tomorrow after the test, start B12 and lower dose enzymes than you were giving. Hold off on Tylosin. It may not be needed. You'll find out after a few days. Probiotic is fine, unless it...
