Re: Another Finn Update

We've never tried Creon. Didn't need to pursue enzymes previously. That will be a lot of capsules because the ones we have are 1/8. Today he didn't want to eat much. I'm really hoping the Zeniquin is the reason for that since one of the side effects can be loss of appetite.

Re: Another Finn Update

We've added in another meal, but not getting 150%. Maybe on a good day but more like 125%. What he turns his nose up at one meal, he may like the next and vice versa. Things he liked as toppers prior to this, he's not interested in anymore. He's always been a frustrating dog to get to eat. When we c...

Re: Another Finn Update

He's able to go much longer in between trips outside. His pee no longer has a horrible ammonia smell. There has been no visible blood even after going back on the one anticoagulants. That's all good. He's back to eating turkey if it's mixed in with ground beef, so hope to transition back off beef so...

Re: Another Finn Update

It was scary. The rust coloured urine, but at times blood red, and because he dribbles there were blood droplets in the snow. The backyard looked like a crime scene. This poor dog has been through so much I was convinced it was cancer. My husband wouldn't even entertain the thought. I'm still waitin...

Re: Another Finn Update

When I said his blood work was good, they didn't test B12 and folate. Just a standard panel. I don't think that sort of thing is on their radar right now, but it is on mine. I even tried to put some enzymes on his food recently, but it was still turkey at that point so he was having none of that. Wh...

Re: Another Finn Update

Bit of a rollercoaster with Finn lately. Positive things first, his hearing came back. Yay! The hearing loss was only temporary. When his hearing came back he stopped barking at night. He still has major incontinence issues and we didn’t do anything about it in December. We were simply too busy to s...

Re: Another Finn Update

Yes Olesia, I think some chronic human illnesses which have led to an appreciation for research. It’s the rollercoaster of good days and bad days I find hard, and the overlapping of illnesses making causes difficult to assess on any given day. For example the ER trip was due to UTI with fever and co...

Re: Another Finn Update

Oh 6 days at the vet hospital would be nerve wracking. I hope Kara is better and the meds are working. We are also looking after my elderly mother, who has incontinence and dementia symptoms. This week we were at the ER overnight with her and then had Finn's appointment with specialists the next day...

Re: Epi results came in. Very confused

Thanks. "He gets great ones solid and firm. Then he gets the well shaped and very soft. When you pick it up it leaves a mess on the ground. Is that considered a good poop?" Kzh, I'm curious is this poop variation at different times (of day or different days) or even within the same time? S...

Re: Another Finn Update

That would be great Olesia, I like reading research. I will keep my eyes open for vestibular symptoms like vomiting, dizziness, circling, nystagmus (I assume?). Never thought about that. That would have been hard to deal with. I've had other pets who've had that. Nothing like that seems to be happen...
