Re: New Diagnosis - GSD Puppy

Olesia, Thank you so much for that reply, that's honestly what I was starting to think as well. Her stools have been off and on perfectly firm and a little soft, and her tummy has been a little more noisy lately than it usually is. Nothing crazy, can hear it from the other side of the room noisy, bu...

Re: New Diagnosis - GSD Puppy

She has gained 4lbs since diagnosis, so about 1lb per week if we don't count the couple weeks it took to get her stabilized. She is up to 56lbs from 52, but she should be around 75lbs when she is done growing. She has always been a slow grower though, never putting on more than about a pound per wee...

Re: New Diagnosis - GSD Puppy

Good morning, everyone! We have been smooth sailing until two days ago when Fi decided she doesn't like the taste of her food as much as she used to. There are too many factors at the moment, so I'm trying to figure out which one it is. We had her on 4 cups per day (2c per meal) of Sport Dog Elite B...

Re: New Diagnosis - GSD Puppy

Hey Madelon, For B12, we are doing WonderLabs with Intrinsic Factor, one capsule twice a day (breakfast and dinner). I honestly think the "lack of energy" could also just be her being dramatic because she was acting all depressed before we gave her dinner last night, then she was bouncing ...

Re: New Diagnosis - GSD Puppy

Hey Pam, Yes it’s concerning to us as well, we can’t tell why she’s been acting this way. There are a lot of things changing for her since her diagnosis, and I feel like her body is catching up on growing since it didn’t have the nutrients it needed for a while. Hoping this is the case, but maybe we...

Re: New Diagnosis - GSD Puppy

Hey Madelon! Fi has been doing great, I haven't been on here in a couple days because I haven't needed to find any advice! :) We added in the B12 and that worked wonders on her weight gain and energy levels (for a while). The slippery elm has been working great too to keep her acid reflux at bay, sh...

Re: New Member introduction and questions

Good morning! No prescription needed for either the enzymes or the B12! It saves a lot of time and money which is helpful to everyone. I emailed Diane when I ordered the starter kit to let her know that I hadn't had any tests confirmed yet, but my suspicion was that Fi had EPI, and she put it in pri...

Re: New Member introduction and questions

Hello and welcome to the EPI family! A staff member of the forum should respond to your questions soon, but I wanted to go ahead and try to help so you can maybe get a little peace of mind! As for Boone, his symptoms definitely sound like EPI. When we got our German Shepherd pup (she is 11 months ol...

Re: Struggling with persistent SID

Hey Kellie! I have the same issue with my GSD, she has terrible allergies around this time of year and is always chewing on her legs and haunches. This is the first time I've had her for this season (she's only 11 months old), but I definitely notice a difference from the summer! One thing that has ...

Re: New to EPI and need some guidance

Hi Mandy! I am certainly no expert, but I have learned a lot over the past couple weeks since my German Shepherd (11 months) was diagnosed on the 1st! First things first, stop the pumpkin!! It is essentially entirely fiber and that's not helping the poops at all since EPI dogs can't handle nearly as...
