Re: Stumped on Diagnosis - EPI or Something Else?
Hi Cortisol regulates stress, digestion, metabolism, etc. There is no way to test it when a dog is on prednisone because it interferes with the results. Kirk would need to be off steroids for at least 6 weeks. Kirk is on an extremely high dose of prednisone even for IBD. Have the vets tried budesoni...

Re: Stumped on Diagnosis - EPI or Something Else?
Hi
Sorry you are going through this. I'm not a vet and this is way out of my comfort zone. Did you have Kirk's cortisol levels tested before he was put on steroids? Is his glucose low when he has seizures? Did the steroids improve the GI symptoms and exercise intolerance?

Re: Problem with shipping enzymes to Canada
Olesia, sadly they do.
I was just informed by a person who lives in Canada that 1-800-Pet-Meds can no longer ship rx items there. The regulations on importing and exporting pharmaceuticals must have changed recently. This may explain why enzymes are being held by Health Canada

Re: Problem with shipping enzymes to Canada
Madelon, Only in Colombia would they seize a gold foil package and think narcotics. They can no longer hide it in shipments of roses, the rose farms have an incredible amount of security, dogs, cameras and armed guards. I'm sure they come up with some pretty clever ways to hide the shipments. The an...

Re: Problem with shipping enzymes to Canada
Hi Jillian, While I have no experience shipping enzymes to Canada, I have had multiple things (dog food, evening gown, jeans) seized by customs in Colombia. Any animal based product, medicine, supplement is subject to seizure by customs and the agricultural police/ health authorities in the destinat...

Re: Low Albumin- please help
Hi Low albumin is usually caused by a number of things, PLE being one and Addison's disease being another. Nate suffered from low albumin for quite some time in late 2015 and then again in mid 2016. The first time it was treated with IV fluids and prednisolone. Adding the prednisolone was key in Nat...

Re: Need Help With Diagnosis
Hi So sorry you are going through this. Is there any way your vet would consult with Dr Rebecka Hess? She specializes isn endocrine disorders and is the chief of Internal Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania's Vet School. I see a couple of things about your dogs meds: prednisone interferes wit...

Re: Survey for those with Diabetic dogs....
Hi
I've also filled out the survey. Nate had an appointment with Dr Hess today and I was very impressed with her knowledge of EPI, Addison's and pharmacology. It is well worth the drive to Philadelphia if you are in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland or Delaware to go to Penn.
