Hi, has anyone used Pro Plan Fortiflora?
Kenzie diagnosed Sept 2015. Fed 3 times a day on Millies Wolfheart, Panzym enzymes 1+ tsp per 120grams food, 1/8 tsp tylan twice a day, altenate 1/2 b12 per day. Also on 1 previcox a day for arthritis in paws and 1 Apoquel for allergies. Diagnosed with poor heart contractibility Sept 2020, on 1 Vetmedin twice a day. 2nd heart scan March 21 shows little deterioration so appear to be working.

Latest TLI was 5.5 Previous readings have been TLI - 3.4 and 4.2.

I don't personally, but i do know that i have read here and there of other EPI folks that used it and was pleased.

With probiotics.... what works best or not really depends on your dog's individual gut flora... and to-date... all the probiotics that we currently have access to are basically once-size fits all.... so although there are a few that we like to suggest.... (that may or ay not work best for your dog).... there really are a lot of other probiotics that we do not mention that might also work well for your dog.

Best thing to do is try it :)

However, what we do recommend with ALL probiotics is start with less than half the recommended dose and work your way up to the full dose over a week or two. WIth some dogs, this seems to work better.
Olesia, was owned by Izzy, a 35lb Spanish Water Dog (SWD), Diagnosed at 1.5 years old - TLI results 1.. Izzy passed away on February 13, 2020 at 15 years old. She lived with EPI for 13+1/2 years. It was because of Izzy that Epi4Dogs was started... she was the inspiration. May her legacy of helping others with EPI continue for as long as needed.........

I am using Proviable, with great success. I wonder if you could access the label online & compare it to Fortiflora? If you do decide to start using a probiotic, please heed the advice to start out slowly. I did a sprinkle, then 25%, then upwards till he could tolerate the entire capsule. When I added slippery elm to the picture, Tucker's poo became close to perfect. Trying to jump in with the whole capsule first thing gave my boy the squirts, so that's why they tell us to start with just a bit. Hope this helps---Pam
Tucker was a shepherd/lab mix--- TLI 1.3, Folate 9.7, Cobalamin 666, Lipase 38. Took Diane's Enzymes 4 teaspoons/day, Wonderlabs B12 one capsule per day, and Tylan 1/16 teaspoon/ morning (to hold SID at bay). Taste of the Wild High Prairie, 1 1/2 cups/day, with a total of 4 cups of Fresh Pet. Stopped eating everything in sight, and went from 60 to 85 pounds! Tucker was my boyfriend, and my husband was OK with that. Tucker succumbed to hemangiosarcoma, but we cherished every day we had with that wonderful, beautiful boy. I will always, always miss my sweet big boy.

Thanks.
Cannot source Proviable so am trying this one.
I will do as suggested. It comes in little packets so will split them up.

I used it with Doc when he was first diagnosed with EPI because that's what the vet recommended. I can't really say if it helped or not. I stopped using it when I ran out - almost 6yrs ago and haven't used it since. I know there are some on here that use it with success and the animal shelter I volunteer with uses it quite a bit. Let us know how things go - just remember to start with half the recommended dose and watch the poops.
Madelon, owned by DOC. DOC dx EPI 5/2015 = TLI < .4, B12 406; Folate >24. DOC taught me so much and together we battled and overcame EPI, food sensitivies, environmental allergies but we lost the cancer battle. DOC was dx with hemangiosarcoma 5/2022 and crossed the rainbow bridge July 24, 2022. He is and always will be the love of my life, my soulmate, my heart dog.

It does seem to have helped. Still using half pack per day. She is having her second 6 monthly scan on her heart tomorrow to see if her heart issues have remained the same or worsened, fingers and toes crossed. I will also discuss with the vet the probiotic.

Kiya, non Epi but gut issues, was on the Forti Flora for 3 years. It helped her stool and off and on early morning bile vomit issues greatly!

Great to hear, thank you. It does seem to be helping Kenzies occasional reflux issues. The vet agreed it would do no harm and if it's working , great.
Her heart is doing well, only a slight lowering of the contractibility of the main chamber, so good news. :D

Good news on the heart!!!!! YEA!!!!!!!!!!

And yes, these probiotics are a great idea, but we kind of like have to try them to see if it does or doesn't do anything for each dog, but like your vet said, it won't hurt anything to try :)
