Birthday Treat Recipes

Post by kellyl » 03 Mar 2021, 20:35

Hi all.... My Wade will be 1 year old on 3/17... talk about a very lucky puppy!!! He was diagnosed with EPI at about 12 weeks of age and was down to 14 lbs and nothing but ribs! It's been an amazing year as he's grown but I have to say that we have him on the right path of enzyme, B12, food and he is a thriving puppy! He is between 70-80lbs as a healthy almost 1 year old lab! I want him to have the typical puppy birthday! I was thinking of ice cream but was also thinking maybe I should make something that has his enzyme in it as a little treat! Does anybody have any good recipes to make???

Thank you!!

Wow good job on managing your pup. Here are some treats you could make for the party with enzymes.

my thought would be anything that he normally can have with enzymes... and a candle :)

Or maybe grain free canned food, shaped into a cake, frosted with something that he can have (i.e. cream cheese, or peanut butter... if he can tolerate these) and topped off with a birthday candle....

It sounds like you have done an amazing job managing him... congrats and a VERY HAPPY Birthday to Wade !!!
Olesia, was owned by Izzy, a 35lb Spanish Water Dog (SWD), Diagnosed at 1.5 years old - TLI results 1.. Izzy passed away on February 13, 2020 at 15 years old. She lived with EPI for 13+1/2 years. It was because of Izzy that Epi4Dogs was started... she was the inspiration. May her legacy of helping others with EPI continue for as long as needed.........

Happy Birthday, Wade!!! What a good boy you are, and what a good job your momma has done!----Pam & Tucker
Tucker was a shepherd/lab mix--- TLI 1.3, Folate 9.7, Cobalamin 666, Lipase 38. Took Diane's Enzymes 4 teaspoons/day, Wonderlabs B12 one capsule per day, and Tylan 1/16 teaspoon/ morning (to hold SID at bay). Taste of the Wild High Prairie, 1 1/2 cups/day, with a total of 4 cups of Fresh Pet. Stopped eating everything in sight, and went from 60 to 85 pounds! Tucker was my boyfriend, and my husband was OK with that. Tucker succumbed to hemangiosarcoma, but we cherished every day we had with that wonderful, beautiful boy. I will always, always miss my sweet big boy.

Thank you all so much!!! Great ideas... and of course a candle!!! I'm so excited to celebrate his 1st birthday. The vet had told us we should put him down!!! I can't even imagine! He's the biggest lap dog ever and he hogs the bed but he is the best boy I've had! Most people call him a "mommas boy" and I'm Ok with that!!! I thought I would share a side by side of him. At 12 weeks he was his sickest and we were on vacation at the beach. We came home and had the blood test done and he was diagnosed. The right picture is Wade today.... a very happy puppy! I'm so thankful for this community!!!

Madelon, owned by DOC. DOC dx EPI 5/2015 = TLI < .4, B12 406; Folate >24. DOC taught me so much and together we battled and overcame EPI, food sensitivies, environmental allergies but we lost the cancer battle.
