Newbie
Re: Newbie
The Sport Dog Elite is being delivered tomorrow. In lieu of haveing three different dog foods I would rather wait one more day until it comes and will follow the instructions on transitioning.

Re: Newbie
Oh gosh that is not a happy poo picture Just an FYI - if the Sport Dog Food ends up working for you, you might try ordering directly from the company - they have a rewards program and you can periodically get $5 off - I know it's not much but these days and with these dogs $5 can be a good saving Also not sure if we mentioned it but when ordering from WonderLabs use the code EPI4DOGS15 and you'll get 20% off of your order.
Madelon, owned by DOC. DOC dx EPI 5/2015 = TLI < .4, B12 406; Folate >24. DOC taught me so much and together we battled and overcame EPI, food sensitivies, environmental allergies but we lost the cancer battle. DOC was dx with hemangiosarcoma 5/2022 and crossed the rainbow bridge July 24, 2022. He is and always will be the love of my life, my soulmate, my heart dog.
Re: Newbie
Thank you For the heads up on ordering the new food direct. As I said prior, her new food is scheduled to be delivered today, B12 from Wonderlabs on Saturday. I did get the discount. I also ordered from Enzyme Diane this morning to ensure I would have it by the time the RX enzymes we currently have runs out. Prior to Emma’s diagnosis, she had started to vomit so the vet had added an acid reducer but we stopped giving it to her after diagnosis. Lately she has started to burp quite a bit. They had put her on Pepcid. Do we think she should start that back up? She continues to be on the Tylan 1/8 tsp twice a day. I am hoping to get her in for a weight check this week to see if she has moved from her initial weight of 35lbs.
Re: Newbie
Emma’s new food came today. On the bag it says the a dog 25lbs should get 1.5 cups. Right now she is getting 3.5 cups of the Hydrolyzed. Of course I will be doing the transition but in the end will I be giving her the same 3.5 cups total for the day?

Re: Newbie
Hello! So, you will want to give her 1 and 1/2 cups + 50% more, which is 3/4 cup. Altogether that's 2 1/4 cups. Here's the deal---when I used SD, after Tucker was stabilized, I had to give him an extra 1/2 cup 2X day or he was hungry. He even seemed to lose a little weight when I followed the directions. So, if she should get 2 1/4 to gain her weight, then I personally would bump it to 2 3/4 or even 3. I just wrote all this, and I don't even know if Emma is too skinny. Oh, you get free shipping after a certain amount, which I think was two bags. BUT, I love that food for Tucker, and only had to change because of $$ with 5 dogs to feed. Take care!---Pam & Tucker
Tucker was a shepherd/lab mix--- TLI 1.3, Folate 9.7, Cobalamin 666, Lipase 38. Took Diane's Enzymes 4 teaspoons/day, Wonderlabs B12 one capsule per day, and Tylan 1/16 teaspoon/ morning (to hold SID at bay). Taste of the Wild High Prairie, 1 1/2 cups/day, with a total of 4 cups of Fresh Pet. Stopped eating everything in sight, and went from 60 to 85 pounds! Tucker was my boyfriend, and my husband was OK with that. Tucker succumbed to hemangiosarcoma, but we cherished every day we had with that wonderful, beautiful boy. I will always, always miss my sweet big boy.

Re: Newbie
So, since she's skinny, she should eat 150% of the recommended amount for what she SHOULD weigh! If she should weigh 42, then take that recommended amount & add an extra 50%, or even more. Like I said, I found the sport dog recommendations to be too little for Tucker, so I ended up giving him more than what the bag says to. It is excellent food. I hope it helps her. I also hope I haven't confused you. --- Pam

Re: Newbie
No you have not confused me. We started her on it this afternoon. Truth be told it’s nice to give her food that looks and smells like real dog food. Not there is anything wrong with Hydrolyzed if you dog needs it. Maybe it makes me feel better and she loves it! My fingers are crossed that this is a good match for her. Thank you so much. Lord knows I do not know what I would have done if I had not found this support.

Re: Newbie
Beth, I'm with you. This forum has saved Tucker & me. All the good advice I've gotten on here---I believe it should be included in vet school, especially when I think of the dogs that are probably given up on, because no one knows how to help them. Keep on writing, and telling us how things are going!---Pam
