Jill,
What you are saying totally makes sense regarding more enzymes to break down proteins. I did know not to use probiotics while she has pancreatitis but didn’t know the reason. I’ve ordered the TotalZymes to arrive tomorrow.

Interesting that you also tried Optagest.

Aside from incubating, any advice about these specific enzymes? Or cautions?

I tasted then in 2012 and they had a slight sweet taste. Mickey had no problem with them but it got to the point the vet wanted him on pancreatic enzymes and those worked the best! There are no instructions on their site, it says 1 scoop per 1 cup food, put in a container with lid and shake to coat all pieces. Feed out of that container. I emailed them but they won't be back in till Tuesday . I asked about the incubation. No, no cautions but it did say to run these by your vet for medication but there should be no issue.

Thanks Jill! I’ll read the article tonight.

I do appreciate your help.

I’ll be mixing the enzymes into wet (home cooked) food. Maybe I have to use a soup blender or something, unless stirring is good enough.

Best to you!

A question for anyone who might know:

Does Pepcid interfere with the digestion process?

my understanding is that it "should" make the process of digestion better by alleviating things that irritate proper digestion procedure.....

Yes, Olesia. I think you’re right…”should.” I’ve been wondering if it suppresses too much stomach acid & so is contributing to trouble with protein digestion. I guess I’d have to see if she had a better time on it or off.

Debra, it's just so difficult trying to assess what helps and hinders... and i know we strongly recommend keeping a journal to help us along... but it still hurts, watching them struggle while we try to figure things out. HUGS1

Wish I could offer some suggestions but I have on experience with pancreatitis. I do give Doc Omeprazole 30 minutes before every meal which seems to help him. I can say though in testing my theories of B12 and other things with him - I keep the journal noting what I'm giving and the results and then when there is absolutely NOTHING else going on with him I stopped giving what I thought was helping him/hurting him - made notes and then added the "something" back in and made notes - I call it "proofing". I was able to figure a few things out doing this.

Please keep us posted on how things are going.
