William-

Have you noticed the signatures at the bottom of some posts? You may get some ideas about food & supplements from reading them.

Glad to hear the good poop update, but grey is not really a good color. Keep trying; you & G will get through this!

---Pam & Tucker
Tucker was a shepherd/lab mix--- TLI 1.3, Folate 9.7, Cobalamin 666, Lipase 38. Took Diane's Enzymes 4 teaspoons/day, Wonderlabs B12 one capsule per day, and Tylan 1/16 teaspoon/ morning (to hold SID at bay). Taste of the Wild High Prairie, 1 1/2 cups/day, with a total of 4 cups of Fresh Pet. Stopped eating everything in sight, and went from 60 to 85 pounds! Tucker was my boyfriend, and my husband was OK with that. Tucker succumbed to hemangiosarcoma, but we cherished every day we had with that wonderful, beautiful boy. I will always, always miss my sweet big boy.

Hello everyone-just a quick update on Gunther, he appears to be responding well to the Tylan/B12 regiment as he has gained at least 6lbs since we started in the beginning of June. He just had his stitches removed this morning after being neutered last week and has been doing great with no stomach issues other than the occasional burp. His stool has been good as well so Im hoping he doesnt have EPI-I havent had him tested for a second time though I would like to see if his B12 looks better.

I thought I recall reading I should give him the Tylan for 45 days which is coming up quick-should I discontinue giving it to him? I plan on keeping him on B12 and probiotics indefinitely. Again I would like to thank you all for your input as he definitely is looking better!

Hi William, just read back through your posts. When Mickey had Giardia he was treated with a course of Fenbendazole. Then we waited 10 days or so and treated him again and that seemed to clear him.
When he was tested for Epi was he food fasted for 8 hours beforehand?
On the Tylan you could try cutting down a tad on the amount you give him 2 times a day. Try that a week. If poop is still good cut a tad more down. If the poop starts going south go back up to what was working and stay there. Some are on it for life.

Mickey and his pancreatitis brought me to Epi4dogs.com site in 2012 to help manage it.
He lived from 6/99 - 8/2014

Mickey, Jack Russell. Chronic Pancreatitis. Dianes enzymes, 1/8t 3x/day with meals.

throughout 9 years of EPI we were never able to stop Tylan she was on 1/32 of a teaspoon for maybe three years so it was minute, but neecessary, she tolerated it well

William---

You HAVE to stop gradually.

When you finish day 45 of the course of Tylan, you have to slowly wean Gunther off it. I always start by putting a little less in the scoop every time, until there is very little in there. Tucker requires about 1/32nd of a teaspoon, twice a day forever, or his SID flares back up, so we never get to the empty scoop phase. Trial & error. You'll have to see what happens when you are down to nothing. Hopefully you'll be fine.

Don't toss the remaining powder, because you never know when you may need it again. YEA for six pounds!

Thanks to you all for your advice, I will definitely taper him slowly and see how things go. He seems to be doing quite well with the current regiment so Im in no hurry to change anything. Thanks again for your responses-much appreciated!
