Left over Pancreatin 8x

Post by jjzsupra » 13 Jun 2021, 22:08

Hi fellow EPI parents. I'm a new user here. My GSD, Kara, passed away at the end of April. She was nearly 14 yrs old and I had just over 12 wonderful years with her. Her quality of life and her organs took a pretty fast turn for the worse due to degenerative myelopathy. It was so painful to let her go in peace after all the years of love she gave me.

It was about 1.5 years after adopting her that we finally figured out that EPI was the culprit in her battle against loose stools and poor weight gain. Starting Kara on enzymes was a game changer for her. Sure she occassionly had flare ups and we would have to adjust her doseage or transition from dry to water soaked kibble. Usually within a couple of weeks things would stabilize. Flagyl was a great help as well. She often required prednisone and Simplicef as well to deal with allergies.

Anyway, I have nearly a full kilo of Pancreatin 8x left over. As always, it's been stored in the refrigerator. Make an offer or suggest someone who could really use it due to financial struggles, and I'd be happy to ship it out or meet you somewhere around northeast Ohio. I can provide a more accurate weight if you desire. I'll just need to borrow a scale from someone or go down to the UPS store.

I'll look out for your replys and suggestions. Hoping I can be of assistance to someone in need. I have some Simplicef and possibly some flagyl that I could potentially pass along as well. Those are in blister packs and are from India. They all worked very well. I also have some 100mg cyclosporine capsules, also from India. I bought those just incase. Those were quite pricy despite having family in pharmaceutical sales in India. Let me know what I can work out for you or someone else you may know. Cheers and best to all of you and your beautiful fur babies!

Thank you for your generosity in Kara's name. We also lost a German Shepherd(Kip) to Degenerative Myelopathy at almost 13 years old. It was heart breaking to watch him decline but he was so noble during his ordeal. He gave us so much love that we decided when he passed to adopt another German Shepherd (Kolby) and we used to laugh that Kip thought we did such a good job with DM that he sent us a dog with EPI. You really have to appreciate the sense of humor the Universe has! Kolby and EPI were with us for 11 years and again gave us so many gifts that we adopted Madison, who needed a home for her later years. Since we are in OUR later years, we decided we are a perfect match.

Each dog has given us so much more than we have given them, as you expressed so beautifully in your post. Thank you.

Off Topic---Barb, I never knew your story! It's so beautiful.----Pam
Tucker was a shepherd/lab mix--- TLI 1.3, Folate 9.7, Cobalamin 666, Lipase 38. Took Diane's Enzymes 4 teaspoons/day, Wonderlabs B12 one capsule per day, and Tylan 1/16 teaspoon/ morning (to hold SID at bay). Taste of the Wild High Prairie, 1 1/2 cups/day, with a total of 4 cups of Fresh Pet. Stopped eating everything in sight, and went from 60 to 85 pounds! Tucker was my boyfriend, and my husband was OK with that. Tucker succumbed to hemangiosarcoma, but we cherished every day we had with that wonderful, beautiful boy. I will always, always miss my sweet big boy.
