We have been in enzymes for two weeks now. It’s going ok, I guess. ( blood work will be done next week to check levels) . But Landon gets chewable Heartguard , and tomorrow is his day again for it. How should I administer it????? My guess is to cut it up and put it in his regular meal and incubate it .... but, I’m asking the experts ! Thank you for your help !

Hi. If it was me I would give his Heartguard right after he is done eating. That way the enzymes are still present.

i have always thought that you dont need to enzyme medication, but I have never had to use heartworm meds,

so to be safe give it with food, and enzymes

Does Heartgard need to be given with food?
Give this medication with or without food. The medication is meant to be chewed before swallowing. It may be necessary to break the chewable into smaller pieces and hand feed as treats. Ensure that your pet consumes the entire dose.,

I have always given Kolby his heartworm med just by breaking it into a few pieces and putting it on the enzymed food right before he eats. I have never incubated it and it's been fine this way.

No need to incubate heartworm med... just give as mentioned above .. either right before or after a meal :)

Also.... no need to stop giving heartworm med or tick and flea med just because a dog has EPI.... The only thing i personally suggest is to not give heartworm and tick and flea meds on the same day.... i like to suggest giving a week apart :)... simply because that is aa lot of chemicals all at once to give a dog with a compromised system......
