Yes, you can tent the skin for the B12 shots. I gave Kolby injections for a long time when he was first diagnosed and we did it this way. Just pull up the skin between the should blades and inject there. In addition to having the correct B12, make sure you have the right sized needle. If you do, she should not feel a thing. Believe me, Kolby reacts to everything and he did not react a bit. I just had my husband hold him on leash so he wouldn't walk away.....

Congratulations on the weight gain!!! Woohooo!

Thanks Barb for confirming that.....-i know i do it for insulin but wasn't sure if you could do it for B12 too.

..... if it wasn't for being able to tent the skin..... i am not so sure i would be able to give Izzy her insulin shots.... i am just a real weenie about needles and pain................

Just to report back, I finally got that B12 shot done! Had my son help me so I would stop wussing out everytime she winced. LOL

I've done a few injections before, tenting at the scruff at the neck, I must have been going deeper than I needed to or something. Because I finally got it where she was fine with it.

Great! Once you do it a few times and there is no pain and no reaction, you get comfortable. We always gave Kolby his ball right after.....he connected the two right away, so as soon as the injection was over, he would run and get the ball.

And Olesia, I'm with you. If I wasn't able to tent the skin, I probably couldn't do it. But when I had watched the vet do it, I noticed that Kolby did not even pay any attention to it.....which meant he wasn't feeling anything. In fact, everyone laughed at the vet's office the first time he got the injection because while the needle was going in, he was poking his nose in one of the open drawers trying to see what was in there, completely oblivious to the needle........so I thought, I can do this. Of course, doing it the first time was very nerve wracking. It took me quite a while to work up my courage. So congratulations! "What we do for love!"

And just for the record, hubby couldn't even look when I was giving the injection!

Congrats on giving the shot..... being able to "tent the skin" is a real weenie saver :D .....

Barb... love the story about Kolby poking his nose in drawers while getting the initial shot... i bet you were standing nearby ready to freak out....oddly enough.... even thou i can give the insulin shots to Izzy by tenting the skin, when we go to the vets... if they have to give them a shot or draw blood- -i still have to turn my head/can't look.............................

Olesia, my vet taught me how to give the B12 shot and that is exactly how he instructed me to do it. Make a "tent" with the scruff skin and inject there. My girl didn't seem to be too bothered by it, but I have since switched to oral Wonderlabs B12 with intrinsic factor. The pills seem to keep her on more of an even keel.

Hello, good idea for the B12 shot ! Should we do it each year for our dogs with epi ?

I'm very curious about CBD effect on my dog, I already use cbd oil 3% for my daily routine and was wondering if i could simply put some drops in the food i give to my dog ?

I saw that there are specific CBD foods for dog but is there a big difference between those both products ? i seems like cbd works for all mammals ...

I use capsules consistently every night for great, relaxing sleep. I have drops and cbd biscuits I use for anxiety in the small dog works very well. About half hour till I see a difference.

Ace is at the point where he doesn't even stop eating when I tent the scruff to give him his insulin. He may pause of I'm taking too long to give him the shot but otherwise is oblivious.

CBD oil is great, I've been using it personaly for human consumption for a while now. Recently, our vet had recommended using it for our dog DUDU who had Trachael issues. From our trail and errors and product QnA we found this as the best cbd oil for dogs, at least for us.
