Advice before testing for epi

Hi
I am going to do the test for Epi tomorrow morning. I am giving Creon at the moment. Vet told me not to give Creon for 24 hours otherwise the test will not be accurate. Is this right? I just fed him this morning with Creon.

According to TAMU oral enzym,es do not affect the cTLI test

http://vetmed.tamu.edu/gilab/service/assays/tli

scroll down too special considerations, maybe print off, and share with your vet

these people are the big guns as far as cTLI is concerned

but you must fast for 12 hours

Good luck and let us know the outcome

Jean

Hi Jean
Thanks for your prompt reply. Can't wait to take the test. I so desperately need a diagnosis so I can deal with wathever is wrong. It's the not knowing that gets to you.
The vet said the results should take about a week.

Yes, the worst is not knowing. Once you have a diagnosis, you can proceed. If your pup has EPI, you can treat and manage it. There are many knowledgeable and generous people here to help you.

Please let us know the results. Hang in there.

Hi. Yes the waiting is the worst. As Jean said, be sure your dog is fasted for at least 12 hrs before the test and be sure they test B12 and Folate as well. While no one wants EPI, compared to some of the other dog conditions/diseases it's not so bad - totally affordable and manageable and we will be here to help guide you along the way.

It is perfectly fine to give pancreatic enzymes with meals before the EPI "TLI" blood test... just be sure to withhold food for 12 hrs prior to the test.....

Glad you are having it done.

Be sure to let us know what the results are.
Good Luck!
